Photographer’s Note
Varberg"s Fortress
The oldest sections of Varberg"s Fortress date from the 13th Century, while the fortress walls were built in the 17th Century. The fortress has been Swedish property since the Danish occupiers left in 1647.
In the 19th Century a large part of the fortress was used as a prison.
In the fortress today you will find Varberg"s Museum, a restaurant, a café, a youth hostel along with a number of private dwellings.

Those really interesting and beautiful shadows make this almost RED&BLACK shot. Very well seen and captured.
Excellent work, Lukas.

Very good composition and warm colors, I like the symetrical repetition of the windows and stairs.
It looks like a "mislead the eye" (I don't know if my translation of "trompe l'oeil" is good)

Lukas what a good picture. The colors are great. You have choose a good angle. Mabey you can try to take a picture right from the middle. But well seen.

Excellent photo! Repetition of stairs and windows, great shadows, wall texture and (most of all) combination of wall's purple and blue of reflection in the upper window - all this works to make a perfect architecture shot.
Is it a real wall color?

You've restituted an interesting impression of movement here, as balconies and stairs seem to stretch themselves on the wall! Very well framed image too.

as an architect,I admire this exquisit picture.
very abstract, only a fecade that the shadows play a great role here : they make the eye move all the parts of the pic.
Bravo !

Fantastic. Lovely lines, straight and curved mixing with the sahdows, and I love that the windows are not symetric. This red is very special, so warm, not too flashy. But strange, it doesn't look like a castle to me, it looks almost too modern. I presume this is an emergency staircase giving on windows.

Hi Lucas,
Been a while since I last examined your images, and am impressed by what you show with this one.
This one the tip of the iceberg. The shadows and shapes coupled with the pink textured wall make for a very pleasing photograph indeed!
Well done.

Sometimes you can see a house with a stair and some shadows and don't think they could become art. You made art of them. Great picture, Lukas! Congratulations...

Although many others have already expressed it, I'll add my own admiration for this shot.
The shadows are beautiful - stronger than the objects that cast them. And the side light works terrifically to pick out the texture of the wall, to blacken the window panes, and to separate the shadows from the stairwell.
