Photographer’s Note
Taken on the island Gotland in Visby during the annual Medieval Week with it's plays, music, open-air markets and parades, all under the golden glow of Sweden’s benign late-summer sun.
During this festive week also several tournaments are displayed, and here I tried to isolate one of the knights that joined the competition.
Tech-details:
Used Photoshop to crop and downsize, colorized to Sepia and added grain and contrast.
Was my previous posting meant to be colourful and dynamic, here I went for a static yet fierceful capture.
Hope you like this one as much as I was intriged by Wilfred of Ivanhou during younger years (-:

This photo reminds me of Ivanhoe, and as any youn girl in Sweden i had a huge cruch on him as a child, :) This is very well composed. i like how you can see that he is looking a the top of the, hm, what do you call it, the sharp thing :). The noice and colour is working well in this picture. The impact would probably not have been the same if it was in colour.

I added it to my Action theme, Edwin. A very nice action shot. very interstin b&w use, while the head of the horse disapears in all that black. I like it this way.
I would like to see some motion blur, in order to increase the feeling of action or an attack. I also would like to see him running towards the camera. a little bit dangerous, but should be nice.
Well done here, Edwin.

I like also this one. The subject is still interesting and the framing is great. I´m wondering if this shot could work even better in colors?

Die Rooi Ridder, Lancelot, King Athur, al the Scienc Phantasy characters come to mid here Die diagonaal van die lans werk baie goed, ook sy kop (hoof) wat die lans volg. Knap gedaan.

Very agressive photo! I think you've managed well to transmit what you wanted.
The undersatured sepia is very good, and the grain add some old rememberance feeling. Besides that the DOF is great, composition very well balanced and well chosen frame.

Hi Edwin, this is a damn cool pix.
Looks like movie scene capture.
Like this pic a lot, hope I'll have the chance to shoot pic of those knights too...
Can't find any in Asia for this kind of events.

Your medieval-week pictures are great! And this one is not an exception. Great portrait of knight and his horse. BW is just right for this picture. I like the composition and the frame.
I wish it was summer and medieval week, now!
Bra gjort!

Dear Edwin, you were not the only one who probably liked those great old Hollywood movies with all those knights !! This is a very well composed picture. The B&W works very well. For me the light part of the horses head adds a lot to the balance of the picture :) Thanks for showing :)

Nice knight! Looking at the pictures that you have captured during the festival, I am sure it has a really good history! The Black and White adds all the more weightage to the image.
