Photographer’s Note

Morella is an authentic medieval village, surrounded by a wall of about 1,500 meters long, chaired by a robust castle, inside the wall the streets are narrow with precious corners and a phenomenal gothic church.

Located at about 1,000 metres above sea level, in the far north of Valencia, Morella is the capital of the region of Els Ports.

The population presides over a rugged landscape of agricultural crops in terraces.

Chairing the people, a strong castle witnessed multiple battles, and rarely conquered given their particular location. It was partly destroyed during the Carlist Wars. It has a spectacular view over Morella and the territory that surrounds it.

Morella has within it an authentic architectural jewel, Arciprestal the Basilica of Santa Maria La Mayor, Gothic building the centuries XIII and XIV, in the interior of the Baroque high altar, a magnificent body Francesc Turull fully functioning and the only chorus movement in Spain, also in Gothic style, which is on-high in the center of the main hall which is accessible by a spiral staircase of incredible beauty.
