La Basílica de Santa Maria de Igualada es el conjunto más significativo de nuestro patrimonio cultural. La historia de este templo, que se levanta en el corazón de la ciudad se funde con las orígenes y las viejas raíces cristianas del pueblo igualadí. Con el paso de los siglos, el edificio se ha ido transformando, como también la población que ha crecido a su entorno. Sucesivas generaciones ha dejado su impronta, y ha acontecido así un valioso testigo religioso, histórico y artístico, que hemos heredado todos los igualadins. Estos últimos años, y coincidiendo con el cuarto centenario del Santo Cristo se ha llevado a término una restauración general de todo el conjunto, con la colaboración de ciudadanos y de instituciones diversas. La Generalitat de Catalunya ha declarado la Basílica, monumento de interés cultural.

Construcciones anteriores en este mismo lugar. 1003- Aparece documentada una capilla dedicada en Santa Maria, en el lugar de Aqualata (agua extensa). Junto con una fortaleza un cruce de caminos y algunos pobladores, acontece el núcleo originario de la actual ciudad. 1059- La capilla, dedicada en Santa Maria y SanSanto Pedro, es consagrada y erigida como parroquia, con cementerio propio y las correspondientes atribuciones, por el obispo Guillem de Vic. El templo era de estilo románico. 1087- Segunda consagración, por el obispo Berenguer de Vic, a causa, probablemente, de reformas importantes. 1356- Ampliación de la iglesia con capillas laterales de estilo gòtico y otras reformas imporantes. 1514- Se trabaja en el campanario, que fue conservando cuando se va construïr el actual templo.

The Basilica of Santa Maria de Igualada is the most significant set of our cultural patrimony. The history of this temple, that rises in the heart of the city is based with the origins and the old woman Christian roots of the igualadí town. With the passage of the centuries, the building has been become, like also the population that has grown to its surroundings. Successive generations have left their stamp, and have occurred therefore a valuable religious, historical and artistic witness, that we have inherited all the igualadins. These last years, and agreeing with the fourth centenary of Santo Christ a general restoration of all the set has taken upon maturity, with the collaboration of citizens and diverse institutions. The Autonomous Government of Catalonia has declared the Basilica, monument of cultural interest.

Previous constructions in this same place. 1003 - She appears documented a chapel dedicated in Santa Maria, the place of Aqualata (extensive water). A clean piece of architecture!
I like the simplicity of lines and the finer details, I also notice the colours are well reproduced...
A symmetrical composition works well, and an interesting detail with the door to the left!

Que bella apresentación nos presenta de esta importante Basílica. Excelente encuadramiento.
Muy interesante la nota explicativa, pues demuestra la preocupación en conservar y mantener los valores culturales y arquitectónico de los pueblos.

Me gusta desde el punto de vista, la nitidez de los diversos matices, tanto de la madera de la puerta, como de las paredes.

Para mi gusto, hubiera dejado ver por completo el arco externo de la pared y haber corregido la inclinacion, pero en todo caso, en una toma como mucha fuerza compositiva, al captar una parte de la puerta abierta.
