| The Madrid Stock Exchange was created in 1808 by José Bonaparte in the San Felipe el Real Convent in the Puerta del Sol, however, it did not manage to gel due to the political scene at that time. It was not until October 20th, 1831, that the Madrid Stock Exchange opened its first session in the Consulate in the Plazuela del Ángel, and finally in 1878 construction of the current Palacio de la Bolsa in Madrid?s Plaza de la Lealtad was approved. This building was officially opened in 1893 by Queen María Cristina. |
