Punta de Teno, in the north-west corner of Tenerife, is a fascinating volcanic landscape populated by clumps of Canary Island spurge (Euphorbia canariensis, foreground), Opuntia (prickly pear) and other plants suited to an arid climate with poor soil.
Euphorbia canariensis is endemic to the Canary Islands and is the official symbol of the island of Gran Canaria.

Hello John,

Here you propose a very good landscape photo and more than this a vegetable presentation of the Euphorbia in its environment thanks to the possibility provided by the wide angle lens.
The composition is good with the plant in the foreground and the volcanic mountains in the background. The sky is nicely dramatic. Did you use a graduated ND filter to put in evidence the sky?

Yves.

Olá John,

Un posto molto grazioso, già stiva là nella vacanza :)
Very green this landscape with the vegetation.I love the green tones and the hilly landscape. Very good POV and nice colours.

Hello John.
Not only a terrific landscape but a superb botanical presentation, I think. You have composed this magnificently and obtained a great light and a dynamic sky. The range of vegetation and textures is fascinating. A superb photo, very simply and nicely framed.

Andrew

Hi John,
beautifully composed, as always, and very well presented. I'm amazed by the quality and quantity of details you managed to get and the great result is even more enhanced by the fact this is a scan from a 35mm..a truly appealing shot! The great dramatik sky is the icing on the cake adding a great mood to the whole lot and enhancing the contrast between the beautiful colours. The light you managed to catch is absolutely outstanding!
Thanks for sharing it.
Cheers,

Igor

Hello John!

Colorful shot where the different kind of plants gives the picture some varying patterns. The composition is excellent and it's nice to see a moody sky.

Bellissimi questi verdi di tutte le tonalita'.
Il cielo nuvoloso e' perfetto per evidenziarne tutti i colori.
La F4, il 20 mm e la Velvia fanno il resto.

Hello John!
Wonderful place full of cacti!
Great colours and light and very nice point of view!
Lovely sky!
Best regards!
Lili

I thought this looked like Velvia. Nicely composed. It looks like the Prickly Pear Cactus is starting to bloom. Good scan.

Hello John,
what a beautiful symbol they chose for their island...I love the subtle tones here, all those greens, the fresh, the darker ones, the reddish earth, the bare mountain and dramatic sky; the light is rather cold and brings the arrangement of the plants in a beautiful manner, all with "finesse" as you always do. Great feeling of vastness. I can hear the silence. Beautiful.

Hi John,

I promise, this one is last for today. :) From your shots I can see how fascinating are volcano landscapes. Due to excellent POV foregound vegetation shows all magnificent details and charactestics. The view nicely goes along the slope to distant peak with dramatic clouds. The light is superb through whole image and it shows chosen scenery at best.

Kind regards,
Jeri

Hola John,
Me gusta esta luz que enfatiza las diferentes tonalidades y esta toma tan baja en la que das un gran protagonismo a las plantas.
Excelente.
Un abrazo,
Mirari

John,
incredible there you are a member of TE for almost 4 months and I never crossed a single shot of your very distinct galery. I looked through most of it and I like them all! I choose to start writing a critique with this here for the reason that it reminds me of my long time ago vacation at Tenerife and also of California were I do live for the last 6 years. Wonderfully built composition with an eire light that provides an onmious atmosphere.
Peter

Hello John,
I just love your "portrait" in your TE bio! This little rascal looks very much like my black cat. It is really amazing that any plants can survive at all in this toxic soil, especially in an arid climate. The plants are beautiful to boot! This is a fantastic photograph with perfect composition. As usual, I am always learning something new everyday on trek Earth. Marvelous work!
