Photographer’s Note

This one is for my Spanish friends.

Coming back from a hike in the vicinity of San Vicente de Alcántara, we drove into this small village and encountered all the (old) men who gather there in the afternoon. I was really charmed by the view and asked my friend to stop the car. With my few words of Spanish I asked whether I was allowed to take a photo of them. They allowed me, so much I could understand, but of course more was said that I did not understand. Anyway, I took a few shots, and I had fun. And they had fun too as you can see.
On the wall behind them is the name of the Spanish socialist Party, PSOE, who won the elections yesterday.

An image of all the men sitting on the benches in front of that wall is in the workshop.

I haven't been here for a while, which is too bad, as I have lots of photo's to post.

Hello Rinie,

I'm still thinking how will end my learning Spanish adventure and in which country ? I can imagine your feeling and their feelings. And why you are laughing together. Lovely shot, very good capture with its story and workshop post. I like your focus and their natural poses a lot too. Congratulations.

Pity that this front man is blurred but the overall framing and POV is just superb! I have been out for quite sometime too!

Hi from Lisbonne Rinie! Coming back to Madrid today. I love the idea of use the focus to create to different levels in this photo. I love their happiness, and beside, PSOE really won in this part of Spain. Its great to see you around!
PS: Not sure, but I think this moment was in Salorino...But not sure. Kiss.

Hee Rinie, wat goed om je weer te zien posten op TE! Door het moment dat je gepakt heb en de compo is dit een herkenbaar Rinie-schot. De expressies en texturen zijn prachtig en de beperkte DoF geeft een dynamische zwaai aan het beeld.

Hola Rinie, me gusta el enfoque/desenfoque de la foto, contraste entre dos planos y lo más divertido.... ver la alegría y el buen humor de la gente sencilla que pasa el rato charlando y riendo, veo que estaban contentos de que les hicieras las fotos.

Dear Rinie. I have tons of things to tell you, but Ishould probably do that at another venue, such as in an email;o) Insead I will say:" Boy, have you gotten camftable with photografing people!".It's has been really inspiring to see you get so good at this and this picture is really nice, I didn't even need a note to understand where, why and how this shot was taken.
