The Real Palace of the Farm of San Ildefonso is one of the residences of the Spanish Royal Family, placed in the from Segovia locality of San Ildefonso. It is managed by National heritage and opened to the public.

The Real Place of The Farm is placed in the north slope of the Guadarrama, to approximately 60 kilometers of Madrid. His name comes from an ancient farm that the monks jerónimos of the from Segovia monastery of The Vine arbour had here.

The palace was constructed during the reign of your Majesty King Felipe V of Spain, who remained impressed of the local beauty during a hunt. The King, who wanted to move away from the old man Alcázar de los Austrias, arranged to Teodoro Ardemans the construction of a small baroque palace with big gardens. Although the works began in 1721, proper Felipe V arranged progressive enlargement of the palace, up to turning it what would be his " Small Versailles ". Since then and up to the reign of your Majesty King Alfonso XIII the palace would turn into the summer residence of the Kings of Spain.

In the ground floor of this palace there was showing itself the collection of sculptures of Cristina de Suecia, which this queen, after abdicating, had assembled in his exile in Rome. They were acquired by Felipe V and heightened with stands, which still survive in the original spaces. The sculptures were moved in the XIXth century to the Prado Museum and replaced by reproductions in cast. These lounges decorated with stuccoes of false marble, have recovered his beauty after a recent restoration.

Real Gardens of the Farm

With an extension of six kilometers, the gardens surround the palace and they are one of the best examples of the design of gardens of the Europe of the XVIIIth century.

They were designed by the French gardener René Carlier, who used the natural slopes of the hills that surround the palace as help for the visual perspective and as source of energy to make to sprout the water of each of twenty-six monumental sources that decorate the park.

Two Ws with different frontages.

Hi Ros,
Brilliant presentation of this beautiful old palace that is seen in all its intricate detail. The neatly trimmed shrubs leading to the palace door adds great depth to this photo that is seen in clear colors and excellent sharpness.
Regards, Tom

Hola Ros,
good clarity on that view to the magnificent facade. Good exposure management shows us the front in shadow very well. Seems to be very large with all the workshop extensions.
Lieben Gruss, Ulf

Hello Ros.
I like the well controlled exposure and elegant composition of this shot. The sharpness is excellent and you've retained a lot of detail in the sky. You've really shown this impressive palace well.
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Ros,
Well composed in very good light. All of the details of the facade are discernible and I like the symmetry provided by the low wall and shrubs on either side of the walkway. Good shadow effects and lighting management. Thanks for the great note.

Hola Ros!
Belle prise de vue de ce merveilleux édiffice de la famille royale. L'architecture est superbe et la bonne qualité d'image nous laisse bien voir les détails. J'aime bien aussi l'allée, avec les arbres taillés, qui nous améne au palais.
Salutations!...

Ros,
good symmetry and balanced light conditions to render the glorious architecture and its surroundins. Maybe a couple walking along the path would have been a nice human add.

Hola Ros,
Excelente nota informativa.
Un abrazo,
Josep
