Puerta del Sol
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is the "Puerta del Sol", Gate of the Sun in Madrid. It is so called because it used to be one of the accesses in the wall surrounding Madrid in the 15th Century. The gate had a sun drawn in it beacuase it was in the east.
Nowadays it is the center of Madrid and there you can find the so called "Kilometro Cero" the origin of the radial roads in Spain. The tower in the shot is the clock that, traditionally, marks the start of a new year in Spain. And right on top of it... the full Moon, on the Gate of the Sun. |
