Photographers Note
An abstract picture ? Hardly so ! We are in the lobby of the famous Casa Batllo, one of the most important works of Antoni Gaudi, a house built around 1904-06 which stands on the Passeig de Gracia. My picture is a detail of the staircase. Many problems there for a photographer who cannot use a tripod, because the place is very dark. So although I was unwilling to increase the ISO values I had to settle for a 500 ISO, and hold the camera at 1/8th of a second which is very risky.
I dedicate this one to my two friends from TE, Barrufeto 77 (Oscar ) and Coco ( Carlos )

Merhaba Izzet.
Am I the first?
Thanks for the note and for the photo.
A few days ago I was just there and I want show you some of the photos (WS 1 & WS 2).
The same stairs... and even I have more.
Anyway, but I want to say: you show perfectly what means Gaudi's work in the Batlló House.
Regards.

Isolating this detail of the staircase has worked well, and your tight framing adds to the impact. The composition is very well balanced, with a harmonious arrangement of the various shapes.
The slow shutter speed and high ISO has resulted in a slight graininess and loss of sharpness, especially at the bottom of the frame for some reason, but I don't think it detracts that much from the image.
Good work Izzet, I like it.
Cheers,
Ben

Hi Izzet
Yeah, Gaudi was a great architect with its unique style.
What a great imagination...good you show the ws with people climbing the stairs so we understand what is all about. Good exposure, colors and framing too.
Cheers

Hi,
Casa Batllo is my favorite work of Gaudi. It's full of amazing details and you seem to have chosen one that exactly symbolizes his approach to architecture. It's obvious that this detail belongs to Gaudi - even Batllo House. Despite the light conditions, you skillfully managed to capture those lively, warm colours and shapes.Congrats.

Spectacular graphical detail, Izzet. Gaudi's work is an endless photographic opportunity and this colorful one is superb. Like the backbone of a dinaussaur. It was nice to see the extras images of Carlos, that complement yours. Love it!

Great eye to be able to spot this, and great hands to be able to take it at 1/8 second. Like you, I hate to go over about 400 ISO, so it's a common problem. I like this shape, and the colours also are very interesting. Well done!

Hello Izzet - at first I couldn't make any sense of the thumbnail, but after looking at the large version for a few seconds, I see the brilliantly seen detail, it does play tricks on the eye, I suppose this type of architecture is intended to test the imagination.
Regarding your question about Georgia, it's safe now, the police force is vastly improves over the years, I never felt unsafe. In general the countryside is fine, Tbilisi is just as safe as a mid sized italian city at night, the few unsafe areas are where tourists would not visit anyway (Pankisi gorge near Chechnya, and the lawless semi-state of Abkhazia) Svaneti region has a bad reputation, but is also the most photogenic, I did not go there this year, but I hear the security even there is improved nowadays, the main problem in Svaneti remains long bad roads, and difficult accesivility.

Hello Mr. Keribar,
I cannot believe my eyes, and the fact of seeing the staircase in the shape of a backbone. But this is Casa Batllo, home of "expect the unexpected". Excellent graphics in perfectly presented vertical format.

Izzet, what a little jewel! Wonderful composition and colors and despite the adverse light conditions you got it perfectly done. My only additional remark is a mental exercise: can you imagine a sinlge person walking upstairs and being placed in the lower right portion of the image? Maybe a kid?
Have a good week, Peter

Bonjour, Izzet.
