It's very funny and interesting shot. He is absolutely concentrated in his phone, and it's placed like if he was a piece of one scenery, the red T-shirt is a touch of color really interesting, between the dominant gray. Great shot! Thanks.

Hello Jack,

Superb shot, helped along substantially by the man sitting with his red T-shirt, but with a touch of broken symmetry. This is a fabulous shot, with all the right elements — composition, perspective, light and shadows, colors and definition. Since you use a Nikon D70 with the Nikkor 18-70 lens, just as I do, your photos serve as touch stone. I see what is possible. And this is a very impressive photo.

In 1997 in Washington, DC then in 2000 in Seoul, Korea, I served as the organizing chair of a pair of interdisciplinary conferences called "Symmetry in Its Various Aspects: Search for Order in the Universe." I had invited speakers who were world class in their respective disciplines — mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, the social sciences, and the arts. The one thing that we could all agree on was that symmetry is good, "broken symmetry" is even better. There is some subtle aspect beyond the obvious. In this photo there is just enough symmetry lacking to make it much interesting.

This could almost be an advertisement shot. All you need is a product to sell and a sales pitch...LOL.

Funny, how he positioned himself exactly in the center of that arch between those potted plants. The temptation would have been to put him off center but I'm glad you didn't. His central position is what makes this shot work well.

A very well found moment indeed, Jack. The stone arch provides a good "natural" frame and of course you couldn't have asked for the guy to be in any better position or to wear any other color shirt. Fine post-processing (I see clarify tool and saturation) to salvage the out-of-camera original.

Interesting shot and excellent Klick, I like this symmetrical image, the seated person contributes to the work a moment amused, you knew to see this moment and for catching it with your camera, a fantastic light and beautiful textures. It seems a soccer goalkeeper, will stop penalti? ;-)
