[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I hesitated of uploading this one. I have already posted some photos of the same motif and I live only ten kilometres away from Saragossa.
But I like the elegance of this very landmark of the city that will held an Expo in 2008.
The church, dedicated to Mary under the title of Our Lady of the Pillar, is almost as big as a football field. 130 metres long and 67 wide. It has four towers and eleven cupolas. It is the biggest church in baroque style in Spain. The construction of the building started in 1681 and officially finished in 1872, but actually the last tower was finished in 1961, 280 years after the beginning.
Numerous churches have been built upon this site through the years. First a small chapel was builtt. After the Reconquest of Zaragoza in 1118, a Romanesque style church was ordered to be built. This church was damaged by fire in 1434, and reconstruction began in the Mudejar-Gothic style. The present baroque edifice is a work of Francisco Herrera Hidestrosa, by commission of Don Juan de Austria.

Hej Clemente,
Great to see these silhouettes. The shapes of the many towers are well visible and I enjoy the fine blue colours of the sky. The composition is good also. Well done!
Regards,
Lars

Hello Clemente,
A perfect silhouette! The composition works very well and the colors of the sky are great!
Well done, Mike

I like how this image emphasizes the similar but still distinct shapes of the towers. Also nice soft tones in the background.
