From Madrid cats.
Muhammad I, son of Abderramán II Madrid was founded in 852. It built a walled strength that would control the whole valley of the orchards and the mountain of Guadarrama. Inside this wall it would be located the almudaina or citadel and a small mosque.
The wall of the Muslim magerit was built with big blocks of brilliant flint, he/she had square towers and three access doors: De la Vega, Arch Santa María and that of Sagra and several wickets.

Madrileños gatos.
Muhammad I, hijo de Abderramán II fundó Madrid en 852. Construyó una fortaleza amurallada que controlaría todo el valle del manzanares y la sierra del Guadarrama. Dentro de esta muralla se situaría la almudaina o ciudadela y una pequeña mezquita.
La muralla del magerit musulmán se construyó con grandes bloques de brillante pedernal, tenía torres cuadradas y tres puertas de acceso: la de la Vega, Arco Santa María y la de La Sagra y varios portillos.
Hubo muchos intentos por conquistar Madrid, la primera vez fue en el 924 al mando del conde Fernán González, mas tarde, en 968 Ramiro II de león dejo bastante dañará la fortaleza y el califa Abderramán ordenar fortificar Madrid.
Un día de mayo de 1085, las tropas del rey Alfonso VI se acercan a Magerit. Al amanecer llegaron las tropas a la puerta de la vega, iban cautelosos para sorprender al enemigo, de repente uno de los soldados se separa del pelotón y comienza a trepar por la muralla hincando la daga por las juntas de la piedra. Subió tan ágilmente que todos empezaron a decir que parecía un gato. Cuando comenzó la lucha el hombre ya había subido arriba, corrió al torreón de la fortaleza y cambió la bandera mora por la enseña cristiana.
En memoria de esta hazaña, desde ese momento él y todos sus sucesores cambiarían el nombre por el de gato. Desde entonces a todos los nacidos en Madrid se les llaman “gatos” |
