[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
At the Loro Parque in Tenerife they have a group of 5 adult male gorillas living apparently contentedly in a bachelor group. They have been collected as 'surplus to current requirement' from zoos around the world. Over time they will go to other zoos in order to improve the blood lines.
Apart from tight cropping the image has been changed little except for applying the unsharp mask to pull more detail from the fur. What impressed me about this individual was that he was sitting watching us just as much as we were watching him. There is a wonderful intelligence, as well as disdain, in his expression and in particular in the eyes. He just sat there for some time before slowly turning until he had his back to those of us watching him. He wasn't going to move away, just turn his back and ignore us. I thought that was an incredibly powerful statement.
The image was taken through glass which explains some of the blemishes. I am not good enough with PSP to attempt to hide them without doing more damage.

Excellent !
The pose is really expressive and the good sharpness makes a lot for the success of the photo.
Very well done, Keith !

Amusing, very good.

Sorry: I have no more points for today but: this is great! I like the expression on his face. I will do my best to remeber to return tomorrow.

Your note, and photo and title work well together. Especially using such a close crop. Almost as if by being so "in his face" we are giving a little of what we're getting from him. Gives me kind of a creepy feeling. Thanks for posting.

What a handsome fellow he is...the fur colour is really nice and it is good that your sharpened it to show the details. He looks as if he could stare anyone down. What an expression. Excellent composition, well done.

A spectacular portrait, better is worth not met on the beach him, very impressive, well considering.
