Photographer’s Note

Puerto Rico, situated between Puerto de Mogan and Playa del Ingles, in south-west of Gran Canaria.
The cactus seem to be alive and full of energy, like comuters on a basy railway station.

nice one. If you would catch clean sky could be even better with a green-blue dominant part with the white house inbetween.

Hi, Liliana. An original foreground which stands well out against the white background of the houses. The foreground creates a very good depth in your composition.

Un titre bien choisi pour tous ces cactus. Ici et bien qu'étant à Gran Canaria, on ne peut pas dire "villa pieds dans l'eau" :-) Cela ferait très mal! de jolies couleurs, un beau ciel et un tout bon pov.

Foarte interesanta imaginea, si un titlu sugestiv. Asa cum mai spunea cineva, dealul si cladirea din fundal dau o profunzime puternica imaginii... parca ar fi doua imagini suprapuse... In ce priveste cactusii, mie imi evoca o padure de alge de pe fundul apei... Interesant si bine realizat!

The cacti are prickly too, like some comuters. Lovely photo with the cacti up front. The building perched on the mountain looks superb. Lucky there was that little bit of blue sky poking out. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice use of fore-, middle- and background. Cacti and palm trees are my favorite plants and both are present in your picture. Very good DOF to show details at different depths. The frame also suits the photo well. Great job! Thanks!

This is an impressive shot with lots of impact. The dense formation of the cacti works well here to deliver a sea of green in the foreground. The upward elevation of the buildings is a good aspect, too, as it delivers an exaggerated perspective and extra depth. Nice framing and good impact.

What an interesting image you have here, and an interesting imaginitive comment in your note. The cacti are so well focused and sharp in detail. Excellent contrast in the use of light and shade. The building above looks a little washed out against the clouds, but the huge rock above the town is very imposing in the composition, emphasising the viewpoint and upward-looking perspective. Very inventive and creative. Well done.

Olá Liliana, this is quite a sucessful composition. The catctuses filling up the foreground are just great for the scenery seen in the background. As you say, they seem alive and full of energy, sharp and clear, with strong attractive colors. Beautiful.

A very bold composition the one that you us present here. Dared by the setting that gives a lot of protagonism to the cactuses in foreground, and for the rock and the buildings that seem to go out of them, emphasized on a nice sky.
The low POV gives major perspective, and the result is splendid.

good balance of very interesting foreground against a backdrop of the hill and sky..
low pov works to bring out the height..or emphasise it..of the cactus..you are right about commuters..they seem to be all in the same mould coming and going all together

Very creative composition using these cacti as a frame and at the same time as a way of pointing to the buildings on the hill. Excellent sharpness, I certainly wouldn't want to tangle with them ;-). I agree a totally blue sky would be even better, nevertheless, very well done.

I practice this technique myself of making what one assumes to be the main subject subservient to a strong foreground. Now you mention it, the cacti really do take on the appearance of busy commutters rushing by on their way to work. As for needing a clean blue sky, the only control we have over those conditions is that of global warming. Sometimes you have to take what you can get and it's not something I'd have felt necessary to mention. Well seen and well taken.

Hi Lili, excellent POV there, love the foreground full of cactus, that gives a particular feeling to this picture, technically not perfect due to the burnt part in the sky and perhaps the lack of contrasts but anyway i like it a lot

I like the POV, I like the colors, great sharpness. The light on the cactuses on the right side is beautiful. Tomas is perhaps right to point out that clean sky without clouds would perhaps been even better, then the white house would have stood out more. But I like it as it is. TFS.

Hey Lili,

Cactus can be seen 'beautifully' in such angle up-close. Perhaps these plants can serve as 'fence' for homes, it's pretty yet 'don't go beyond' our home or you'll get pricked!

Hi Lili,

Splendid composition with the hill topping the picture. The left side of the photo seems slightly underexposed. Or, maybe the cact there were different. Anyway, there is a difference between the saturation of the vegetation on the left and on the right. They are magnificent structures those cacti. It's a good idea to show them against the white building which adds to contrast. Lovely job.
