Photographer’s Note
I got back from a 2 week break to Alcudia in Mallorca with my wife and daughter late Sunday night and I've just got round to sorting through my photos.
This one was taken at about 6.45am one morning before the beach was crowded. I know the horizon is a little central for purists but I wanted to include the whole of the lifeguard tower.

Hi Paul,
the colors of this dawn are really warm and give a great sense of calm (I agree on the title). The composition is good to me, while (almost on my monitor) the beach is a little too dark. I try a bit of postprocessing, if you don't mind. Congratulations, Dario

Hi Paul...
Welcome back. I too just arrived back from 2.5 weeks in Canada.
The addition of the lifeguard tower is exactly what this image needed to make a nice composition. The high f-stop ensured thqat the tower as well as the distant land/ sunset are all sharp. However I am wondering if it could maybe use a touch of brightening as it seems to be a tad dark on my screen.
All the best Paul, look forward to seeing the rest of the shots!

Hi Paul
A nice and placid scene and nicely capturing the soft morning sun. The location of the horizon is alright for me. Nothing wrong there. I also like the dark foreground as it adds good contrast. Amazing what low light can do in producing a nice image. Well done.
Cheers

I think the central horizon is appropriate for two reasons. 1. the tower as you said and 2.the scene is split into 3 parts when you include the beach foreground, so if you hadn't mentioned the horizon I bet no-one would have noticed. It is a lovely composition you have captured by including the lifeguard's tower. The sky with its wispy clouds, (soon to disappear I bet)is very pretty and the sun of course, with its reflection is the star of the show.
Even on holiday you can't resist your low light shots :)
