Toaday I want to show a creation of my favourite architect of all times, Antoni Gaudí i Cornet (1852–1926). I do not need to introduce Gaudi here, he is famous, and his major works, like Sagrada Familia Cathedral, Casa Batllo, or Casa Mila, are well represented on TE. This photo was taken in the Park Güell, situated on the hill of El Carmel in the Gràcia district of Barcelona. This fantasy park is entirely Gaudi's creation; he worked on it from 1900 to 1914. The place is skilfully designed and composed to bring the peace and calm that one would expect from a park. The buildings, though very original and remarkable with fantastically shaped roofs with unusual pinnacles, are relatively inconspicuous in the landscape, when one considers the flamboyance of other buildings designed by Gaudí. This "tunnel" in particular is striking with its tilted pillars. It was designed by Gaudi for peaceful strolls and I have waited considerably long to have a person or two, and especially nobody else, walking down this tunnel. Finally, there was this couple, and I have waited for them to walk some distance from the camera, in order not to close the perspective.

Park Güell is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Hello Aleksander,
un tunnel bien original que celui présent dans ce park, je pense un des plus beaux du monde.
J'aime beaucoup ces jeux de couleurs 'rouille' en haut. La présence de ce couple renseigne sur la hauteur, une excellente idée de l'avoir inclu.
Best regards from Belgium.
Daniel.

Excellent composition, I like the perspective created in the picture and shapes of stones. Nice shot :)

Hi Alexander, this must be surely one of the most photographed views of Barcelona and especially of the wonderful Parc Güell. I also some of this at home too. :) I am glad that you did it also. It's a very good composition and throwing that people there (you have to wait hours to take a picture without them, anyway) really was thoughtful. I love it. It gives an extra sense of scale. The colors are amazing and that's the singularity of your shot. It really shows the texture of the place. Perfect dof. A great photo!

Nice Point of View, Alex.
Nicely composed and well captured.
Great photo.

Serwus Alexander !
Very good choice of tight framing and human presence in this one. A bit claustrophobic image. Very well exposed.
Best wishes,
Mat

nice perspective! good colors, dof. tfs

Hello Alexander,

great shot, for a great place. I like very much the composition. The colour and the light are really good.

Hi Alexander,
I recognised this immediately in the thumbnail. I've been there many times. I love his architecture. It's a very good scan. Great concept, well executed. The couple look like they're caught in a vortex. You captured the line of pillars very well, so that each one can be seen behind the previous one, with its own little shadow. Excellent shot.
Regards,
Andrew

this piece of art is so intersting!great!!!
thank u for posting it
!

A fine perspective study and a good framing to make the most of the depth in this one, Alexander. The daylight brings forward a rich amount of textures and details in the uniquely-designed walls, and it's good to have a few (albeit quite distant) people included to give scale and an additional point of interest. Good notes, too. Greetings from Madrid.

Hi Alexander,
The POV here is everything. You chose it well and there is tremendous depth in the photo. A little overexposure was heightened from the scan, but the overall integrity of the shot is first rate. Well done.
John

This is a really good shot of what must be the world's most unusual park. Its one of my favourite places in Barcelona, and your shot shows it very well. Your decision to include the distant people gives a good sense of scale to the image.
Nice work.
Ben

The perspective is indeed really nice, and the inclusion of the distant couple gives a sense of scale but also show that your picture is actually not tilted! I like the light that brings out the reds and yellow in the stones.
There is a slight lack of quality (due to the scan I think: the picture looks both slightly grainy and a bit oversharpened), but it doesn't alter the impression of dizziness that comes from this perspective. Nice!

Hi Alexander
That's fine that you could include this people in this marvellous piece of architecture of my favorite architect Gaudi. A fine perspective with a lot of detailed texturing of the stone, a good scan.
greetings
Henk

Hi Alexander,
Gaudi ... such an amazing artist he was in specific for his time.
Classic but great shot you've made

hi aljek, privjet!
this is a twisted immage all the way - the colours, the tunnel...
what a finding, and good timing to have that couple in a distance inside the "spiral";
best wishes, j.

Good morning, Alexander
Very well cropped, classic image if this tunnel, I adore architecture by Gaudi and I just have visited this park and Barcelona in May. Excellent perspective, colors and point of view. Very well composed and done, Alexander indeed.

**Alana**

Privet Alexander,
A strong and good perspective, the effect of these tilted arches is quite strong, in fact it glues my eyes on the right side, it gets even stronger considering the straight people you wisely included !
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

I'm always drawn to perspective so it should come as no suprise to you that I've come back to critique this. Love the repetition of the patterns and you have managed the exposure very well under difficult circumstances. A wonderful shot and thanks for sharing.
Best wishes
Mark

Dear Alexander ,

Beautiful mood created here.
Sort of yelloish touch on top is really intresting.
A view getting narrower in cavity is punch.

Impressive POv.
Great job done.

HI Alex
we really feel the Gaudi spirit in this picture...
he hasn't done a "normal" thing in his life..that was the Gaudi style, and that's why he's great...

excellent post

Hi Alexander,
That's really a nice picture. I have visited the park some years ago and remember having to take quite the same POV (can't find it anymore) but as I remember the result not that nice. Greetings, Mike

Engineer Gaudi, not architect.;-)
But he did the most important architecture of these years.
For me a real genius.
Good shot.
Ciao
