I present today a Backyard in Barcelona and wonder what to learn of the world by looking in to this backyard. Probably very little.
Still it was at the time an interesting motif. After a little rain and with some light coming in to the backyard it sure looked nice as we passed the open gate.
The backyard is to be found very close to the Picasso Museum in Barcelona - right on the way back to the city.

It appealed to me this little backyard, hopefully it will also be in your liking - as shot with the little Nikon 885 (my first digital) an example that also the small cameras works OK under not the best conditions.

Hi Jack
i don't know if you've done a PP, but i'd say that the image is a little "scary"...
strange atmosphere here...brrrr

Hi Jack, excellent shot. i loke the dark mood that come out from that image, with a large dark area in the foreground and that old architecture.
excellent view.
thanks, ciao

i really like this shot jack. the arch frames the shot nicely and we get a beautiful view of this small courtyard.

the negative space around the edges of the shot are good, but the shot does seem to have a little fuzziness about it. possibly due to the point and shoot camera! :(

overall, still a good shot.

Bonjour Jack,
Magnifique présentation de cette arrière-cour qui s'apparente à un décor de théâtre. Le nikon 885 se tire merveilleusement bien de ce lieu où la faible lumière règne en maître. Très belle architecture de l'ensemble.
Amitiés.
Philippe

Very appealing shot, mostly due to the toning I think. Not sure how much of that was due to the original lighting and how much was due to PP, but it works for me. Things seem just a little soft though and I think it is tilted a little towards the top left. Nice shot.

salut jack
une extraordinaire ambiance a la dracula ta photo, un chateau hanté, superbe maitrise de l'expo et beau cadrage de cette cours, bravo
amitiés

Hi Jack. Fantastic shapes and sombre colours in this lovely courtyard, and I love the overall dark tones which help to create an interesting mood. The softness is rather effective here I think. I like the deep shadow in the foreground which balances with the shaded area at the top of the shot.

This reminds me very much of a haunted scene ... very appealing. If you look at the image for long enough, you can imagine that you see ghosts! I like the effect very much. Well done.
Best wishes
Mark

like a scene from a pc-game; I'm expecting the hero jumping into the courtyard, with swords and other fighting instruments...

Yes, the camera works OK, but only OK.
The diffuse light and the pp-work makes - for me - this shot.

Wel put in scene with the compo.

Good use of clarify/contrast to bring out some details in this "oldie", Jack. Nice symmetric perspective into the backyard where the array of cobblestone and ornate architecture details provides an interesting ensemble. A bit soft perhaps, but interesting tonality and a painterly feel.

What I liked the most is how you framed the diffused light in dark shadow this gives it mystic look.
