After busy days in Rotterdam with the big TE gathering I continued this morning to Girona on my way to South of France.
I am very glad I this time took time to visit the fine old town of Girona - beautiful place

The ancient walled city of GIRONA stands on a fortress-like hill, high above the River Onyar. Its been fought over in almost every century since it was the Roman fortress of Gerunda on the Via Augusta, and perhaps more than any other place in Catalunya, it retains the distinct flavour of its erstwhile inhabitants.

Following the Moorish conquest of Spain, Girona was an Arab town for over two hundred years, a fact apparent in the maze of narrow streets in the centre, and there was also a continuous Jewish presence here for six hundred years.

By the eighteenth century, Girona had been besieged on 21 occasions, and in the nineteenth century it earned itself the nickname "Immortal" by surviving five attacks, of which the longest was a seven-month assault by the French in 1809. Not surprisingly, all this attention has bequeathed the city a hotchpotch of architectural styles, from Roman classicism to modernisme , yet the overall impression for the visitor is of an overwhelmingly beautiful medieval city, whose attraction is heightened by its river setting.

Although the bulk of modern Girona lies on the west side of the River Onyar, most visitors spend nearly all their time in the old city , over the river. This thin wedge of land contains all the sights and monuments, and as it takes only half an hour or so to walk from end to end its easy to explore thoroughly.

Hi Jack: Girona would be a great place for a TE meeting as well. I´m glad to see you again here. There´s an element I like in this photo and it´s the balance that the branches and the flood of the river creates in the photo. A nice urban landscape. Nice to have meet you in Rotterdam.

Hello Jack,
Regards.
Daniel.

Hi Jack

Very nice and well balanced shot with three levels: water-bridge-leafs. Excellent colors, sharpness and lighting. Marvelous work.

Very beautiful town! Good shot!

hi Jack! I see you are alreday in the dun of the south! I like very much those colors and you choose a very good point of view.

I was glad to meet you at rotterdam and hope to see you again in norway.

Fred

Hi Jack. A fine photo from this beautiful place, where the alignment of red-brown-ochre houses makes a nice graphical compositional interest in the warm sunlight. Good diagonal perspective and well included branches in the upper area for the framing. Great to finally meet you this weekend, take care and enjoy your current stay down there.

Hi Jack,
Beautiful and colorful!
Nice composition using foliage (insteed of sky) on top right of the shot. Many details can be seen; people, constructions view, birds in water, stone edge of river,... I like reflection of colors in ripple water.
Regards,
Reza

Hello Jack

I like the warm cold color opposition between the blue sky & red brick building. Wonderful color & sharpness & nicely composed into thirds.

Hello, Jack!
This view looks like an oil pastel, mainly because of it's colors. I like blurred reflection in the water and branches of tree hanging in the upper corner. Nicely composed scene!
regards,
Greg
