The Conference Centre and Concert Hall designed by architects Soriano and Palacios inaugurated in 1999 is yet another landmark, second only to Gehry´s Guggenheim Museum, of the transformation process currently under way in Bilbao and where a number of infrastructures and buildings designed by internationally renown architects such as Calatrava with his new airport terminal, Foster with the Subway, Pelli, Isozaki, etc. can be seen.

This building is considered to be one of the most outstanding contemporary works carried out by Spanish architects and resembles the last vessel ever to be built on the site of what was formerly the Euskalduna shipyard.
