Photographer’s Note

It's a beautiful day in the Sierras - except for the wind.

These people (and the photographer) have come to this beautiful place overlooking the rolling hills to fly their hang gliders and paragliders. But there is too much wind. So they are all just standing around enjoying the late afternoon sunshine, talking about previous exploits, and hoping the wind will drop so we can all go flying.

Too much wind to fly, but fine for kite flying. Someone has brought out a 4 line parafoil which flies well in strong winds.

The strong north wind has cleared the sky of all clouds, much as the Mistral clears the air over southern France.
