Photographer’s Note

This week in the Christian world is celebrated the "Holy Week"(HW), and I have believed opportune to include this photo of an olive grove, where we see a good view one of the most typical Mediterranean trees, the "olive tree".
People of Israel received Jesus, the day in which he arrived at Jerusalem, with branches of olive tree and laurels.
Nowadays this moment is remembered in the first Sunday of the HW, call "Sunday of branches". Every year this week does not fall in the same dates, since it depends on the moon. That is, after the spring equinox, the first week with full moon, is when the HW is celebrated. This year, the equinox was the 20 of March, and the first full moon is the 25 of the same month, because of that, this week is the chosen one for the HW of the 2005.

Esta semana se celebra la "Semana Santa" en el mundo Cristiano, y he creído oportuno incluir esta foto de un olivar, donde vemos un buen ejemplar de uno de los mas típicos árboles mediterráneos, el "olivo".
El pueblo de Israel recibió a Jesús, el día en que llegó a Jerusalén, con ramas de olivo y laureles. Hoy en día se recuerda este momento en el primer domingo de la Semana Santa, llamado "Domingo de ramos".
Cada año esta semana no cae en las mismas fechas, ya que depende de la luna. O sea, después del equinoccio de primavera, la primera semana con luna llena, es cuando se celebra la Semana Santa.
Este año, el equinoccio fue el 20 de Marzo, y la primera luna llena es el 25 del mismo mes, por esto esta semana es la escogida para la Semana Santa del 2005.

Una toma excelente de nuestros campos Jaume.
Me gustan mucho los surcos que ha dejado el arado y el tono de color de los olivos.

¡Como no! Les borges del camp... Ya decía yo que no podía faltar (no diré por qué le doy tanto boato al pueblo). Es uno de mis árboles favoritos y lo has retratado estupendamente, aunque lo que mas me gusta son los surcos del suelo, las lineas de la tierra. Creo que también acertaste contrastando el verde de los árboles con el de las otras plantas en el fondo. Muy bonita.

PD: Creo que lo de la fecha de la semana Santa no tiene que ver con eso. Creo que tiene que ver con el calendario Judío (que es lunar). No puede ser lo de la primavera porque a veces cae en Abril y que yo sepa es imposible que el equinocio de primavera se retrase tanto. De todas formas como soy cero religioso, a lo mejor me equivoco y estás tú en lo cierto. Besos chavalote.

Hola Jaume, nice shot and nice bright light which highlight the lines on the ground. Well composed too with the off-centre position of the olive tree. Nice contrast between the shadowy area beneath the tree and the surrounding bright area. And thanks for a very informative note. Happy Easter Jaume!

Jaume I love the high degree of sharpness. Also the way the light is shimmering off the leaves. The simple composition is relaxing and I can enjoy the details of the ground. Thanks you for the note and the beautiful shot. Happy Easter!

Hola Jaume! I like your photo: beautiful composition with the plough furrows underlying the hill and breaking up the light. Godd colors with the greyish green of the olive trees contrasting with the warm, brown clods.
A little oversharped for me, but tontonjc said well! Only cicades missing!
