Some say the battle of good versus evil is ongoing. For me, in Barcelona, the battle between sightseeing the masterpieces of Gaudi and sloping off to eat Jamon and drink Rioja was a never-ending one. In my previous photo Catalan Bondage, Jamon Serrano won and Gaudi didn't get a look-in. However on this occasion, Gaudi's Palau Guell emerged the victor.
The forehead was again used instead of a tripod.

wonderful view from under dome you captured.
light management skilful.

Very tough battle. The urge to see and photograph and the urge to taste everything good around. Since you can eat very late at night in Spain, might as well visit during the day time.
I like the very good symetrie here.
Have a nice day

This is an excellent photo of opulent interiors of this beautiful mansion. With all these lights it looks like the inside of a spaceship as they would show in old star war movies. The ceiling looks like a starlit sky. Love the ornate walls with these spherical lamps. Uniquely beautiful building and an equally eye-catching photo. Expertly taken, thanks for sharing.

ti puoi permettere qualsiasi soggetto con la tua conoscenza della tecnica e del mezzo fotografico
1/20 di secondo a mano libero ed una definizione incredibile dicono già tutto.
Superba la composizione e la gestione delle luci.

Unusual and artistic view of Palau Guell with the straight-up positioning creating a stimulating geometric blend of rectangles, intersecting lines, curves, etc.
Barcelona once again catches my attention via your work. And its spot as a major Mediterranean cruise port makes it accessible and a popular future destination for me.
Thanks for "using your head", and sharing,

Ciao cara Lisa,
Well, on this occasion at least, I'm pleased that Gaudi won! And presumably your cranial "tripod" was sufficiently steady to support your camera at 1/20th second because you had eschewed not only the Jamon Serrano but also the Rioja. Did you lie on your back to take this one or balance your camera on your forehead like a seal can do with a ball? :o)
This is a splendid upward view, so perfectly and so symmetrically taken and with the most delicious light and fine rich colours. I do like the symmetrical composition, the warm colours and the beautiful textures as well as the delightful features too - to me they appear more "clasical" and not quite like what I imagine Gaudi's stuff to be - like the House of Bones, the Cathedral and so on. But, yes, lovely!
Spot-on exposure and exquisite details and sharpness throughout.

Fabulous upwards view on the endless work inside the SF basilica.
Perfect shot with details match from all sides of the image.
Immaculate clarity, as you always keep, majestic light indoor's.

Now it's my turn to confess that I haven't visited Palau Güell. Direct upwards angle seems to be even more efficient on the square format building. This is really special (of course, it is Gaudi).
You have a steady forehead and exposure is exactly right.

What an amzing capture with this great pov !
I wonder if you laid down when making this capture ?
Great graphical effect.
TFS and best regards

I love your comparison of good versus evil there :) for me, I think the sightseeing would always win, especially when we see a scene like this. Once again, you forehead tripod has worked magic in creating this mesmerising scene. My eye is being dragged left right and centre as it tries to take in every part of this scene, the natural light, the man made light fixtures, the colors, tones and textures. Such rich and luscious colors, this is a gem of a shot.
Thanks as always

Ciao cara Lisa, I am glad that this time Gaudi was victorious. Amazing symmetry, and the ceiling looks like X ray diffraction on crystal. Superb photo and amusing note.
have a nice day

macjake (57074) 2014-03-04 22:46
nice to see another new pic!
For me Gaudi would win about 90% of the time :)
But for you and Tosca - together on a trip would be hilarious! You'd have to stop all the time to try the restaurants and cafe's lol
glad you stopped to capture this one though.
And about the forehead being used as a tripod? well, i'd love to see you do it with no hands! Just a remote shutter release lol
Now thats talent!!!
all kidding aside, its amazing to get a photo like this at ISO 2000. My pentax isn't built that way - so good on ya! the result is mighty fine indeed.
love the white lights/balls at the top and the color combinations overall. well done.
I'm looking to purchase the new pentax K3 body.
much improved ISO settings and a new censor.
Ive got the itch! Now if only Tosca will allow me to scratch it lol

Interesting and original architecture shot with a good sharpness and rendering of the lightning and mood.
It fills nicely the square frame.
It is a shot I would have liked to do.

Wonderful interior details!
Very beautiful and attractive picture!
Sharpness, exposure, colors, chosen pov and composition are all excellent photo qualities that I truly enjoyed!
TFS - congrats,

That's an impressive forehead you have there... great still shot of the roof (and you know I'm a big fan of straight-up shots of domes like this...) I love the symmetry of the light here, pouring in from all angles to give the trim such a cool glow.
And yes, my wife and I had a similar dilemma on our recent trip... we solved it by spending one day exclusively at the pool and beach, and one day doing our usual mad dash through the city! Hope you were able to satisfy both sides of the battle here...

Hello dear Lisa,
Nice colorful composition of exquisite ceiling.Sharp and crisp image.Very well composed photo with excellent vivid colors. TFS.

haha I can feel your pain and dilemma:)
This time Gaudi has won. With a benefit for us,as the view and your vision of his architectural masterpiece is just brilliant!
Superb upward perspective, very good quality in this low light interior and in the end...again I have to praise your forehead, which gave better result, than my tripod sometimes:)

really fantastic your photo, you've earned a sandwich!
Wish you a good time

for me there was no problem at all as I don't eat red meat and recently don't drink wine either. But finding a good food in Barcelona was a challenge. Touristy places offered overpriced low quality food, but indeed when we tried to go off the beaten track following the locals one could find nice restaurants indeed.
I like very much the perfect symmetry here, very impressive. Very well balanced exposition too.
Have a great weekend!
subhendu_bagchi (25818) 2014-03-16 9:07
interesting composition here. I admit your chosen POV. Great graphical impact you achieved through your composition. Great depth and colour tone. Interesting composition. Thanks.

You have completed my 10,400, thank you. Joke by side, an excellent photo, superb view up. Excellent details, superb lighting. The symmetrical arrangement is just perfect.
Very well done.

Lisa,I wondered how can one to take from such an angle this shot without tripod,
perhaps on the forehead and with ISO 2000?
I would like to see you while you take this shot :)))
The result is EXCELLENT!!!
Thanks for sharing,
tatadalou (6341) 2014-03-29 7:21
Better than serrano, you've got iberico (for your next trip to Spain). I really like this type of shots (I've got a few ones in my gallery) since it looks as well graphic as vertiginous. I haven't visited Palau Güell when living in Barcelona and your shot permits me to see a spectacular part. Lovely vault, that looks like an arabic architecture, with the lights.
ebingul (1926) 2014-03-31 4:47
You captured an artistic shot here with beautiful symmetry and a lot of graphic elements.IQ of the shot is superb thanks to your forehead:)Great light management and framing.Congrats, thanks and best regards.

Hello dear Lisa
Impressive work yet again. With the light what we see here, I thought you would have used a slower speed...but 1/20 s is decent. Amazing amount of details which I spent minutes watching & savouring...Lovely work & a fine neat note!
PS : Cannot help but wonder why the left side is slightly less sharp/blurred as compared to the right, though your placement seems to be very symmetrical..
