The Plaza de España, designed by Aníbal González, was a principal building built on the Maria Luisa Park's edge to showcase Spain's industry and technology exhibits. González combined a mix of 1920s Art Deco and 'mock Mudejar', and Neo-Mudéjar styles. The Plaza de España complex is a huge half-circle with buildings continually running around the edge accessible over the moat by numerous beautiful bridges. In the centre is a large fountain. By the walls of the Plaza are many tiled alcoves, each representing a different province of Spain.
Today the Plaza de España mainly consists of Government buildings. The Seville Town Hall, with sensitive adaptive redesign, is located within it. The Plaza's tiled 'Alcoves of the Provinces' are backdrops for visitors portrait photographs, taken in their own home province's alcove. Towards the end of the park, the grandest mansions from the fair have been adapted as museums. The farthest contains the city's archaeology collections. The main exhibits are Roman mosaics and artefacts from nearby Italica.
The Plaza de España has been used as a filming location, including scenes for the 1962 film Lawrence of Arabia. The building was used as a location in the Star Wars movie series — Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999) and Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002) — in which it featured in exterior shots of the City of Theed on the Planet Naboo. It also featured in the 2012 film The Dictator.

Unusual view of the square! Typically displayed sunlit and always with an emphasis on ceramic tiles in beautiful colors.
I love it!

As you may know I often enjoy watching people in street-shots. However they are not always necessary. There are enough lamps and pillars to make this photo interesting enough, and people might even have disturbed the "purity" of the composition. Now it is all about elegant architecture and the balance of light and darkness.

Hi Deniz, A beautiful nocturne of this building. The warm lights give a sense of calmness and harmony in the area. Awesome angle with the curve which leads my sights to the far end with peace. The top part of the architecture is lit perfectly and details come along fine. The blue moon adds beauty to the composition. Thank for sharing

Wonderful night shot. All the people left the place, only crazy photographer still goes in the darkness. Knowing you, made without tripod but the sharpness is stunning. I love here all these lamp and moon looking rather as sun or star. Beautiful all these columns. And how strange that Gert likes it without people! I wouldn't mind to see here Figaro.
More and more I want to go there with my camera, I must do it this year.

Ciao e buona serata

I have been to Spain many times but never to this place and I think maybe it is time to visit this country again. You have just presented very beautiful piece of architecture and the image has been executed in masterly way. The slightly higher POV ensures nice perspective and the lights have been managed very well. Nice idea to include bright moon right above the Plaza.
Thanks for sharing and have a nice evening

Hello Deniz - I like the smoothness of tones here and think the building looks wonderful against the inky black sky. You have managed the exposure very well and I like the colour management too; so often shots taken at night have that horrid mustard-yellowish undertone which is a pet hate of mine. Very good detailing in the elegant curved facade. Nicely done! Warm regards Rosemary

These curved terraces of houses are a delight for the photographer, with their ornate architecture and gently, leading lines. Bath and Buxton, in England, have similar terraces.
With the addition of artificial lighting, to cast light and shadows over the facade, and the moon to illuminate the sky, you have an eye-catching shot, here. Your composition leads unambiguously from the f/g to b/g and the exposure has given us lovely, sharp details.
My warm regards,

a beautifully executed and presented night shot this. Love the light and the superb detailing that is irresistible in the shadow play here. Moonlight adding to the effect gloriously too. Wonderful!
Have a good week ahead - B.

Selam sevgili Deniz,
Güzel bir kare olmuş ! Sokakların boşluğuna bakılırsa herhalde uykun kaçtı, sokağa attın kendini !
Mehtapda işin kreması olmuş.
Selam ve sevgiler

As I look at this, the sweeping curves remind me very much of St Peters in Rome. The building in the centre is totally different of course, but something about the aches, pillars and columns is very Vaticanesque.
This is an impress place, and you chose a wonderful angle to show it in all its glory, especially under that shining disk of a moon. The man made light has allowed this to be presented beautifully against this attractive pitch black and cloudless sky.
Lovely place and capture,
Thanks as always

I like the sweeping curves of the very fine building against the dark sky as it draws me into the picture. Beautifully illuminated and well done for having the moon in the frame.
Kind Regards, Ann

Smart composition following the curve of the building, must congratulated you mainly for the golden light obtained by a long exposition and the contrast with the dark sky and the ..romantic moon
A good lesson of night capture
Enjoy the WE

This is very good! You manage the exposure so well, creating a soft effect that contrasts so much with the blinding mid-day sun that usually falls here. Your composition is terrific too - I like that you've included the water, bridge and reflection as well. Excellent!
