This is the old Roman bridge in Cordoba leading from the Mosque across the Guadalquivir River, that I mentioned in yesterday's upload. Taken at the end of a long, hot summer's day of walking around this fascinating city, as evidenced by the umbrellas in an almost cloudless blue sky. Although it is not in ruins, it is around 2 thousand years old. If you look carefully you will spot an opportunistic grey heron waiting for fish to pass across the shallow lip of the bridge support, 2nd span back.

The length of the bridge is giving depth to the scene. It is well divided, the sky, the bridge and the sea. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture of the bridge. Have a nice day.

Being in Spain , are you inspired in Dali to put half hidden details on the capture?
Very good perspective and POV to admire the impresive old bridge traversing the river taken from the mosque side, it seems?
Good diagonal composition, like the touchs of colors given by the umbrellas
Well done, tfs

It is fascinating to see that human beings are building bridges since time immemorial to joins lands. Today I saw a very modern bridge and here I see a bridge from the old days. 2000 years old!!.
Great perspective created by the well chosen POV. The umbrellas add color to your photo and I have seen the heron as well. Splendid shot with good light colors and clarity. Thanks for sharing.

I hope you've gorged on ham and turkey and are now relaxing after a very happy Christmas. I love this bridge and seeing your photo brings back so many memories of this wonderful city. Your POV is very good, quite unusual and you handled the very strong light so well. Excellent perspective, colour and contrast. Well done.
PS: oh yes great mind think alike.

Yes, I see the heron. That bridge is in splendid shape for being ~2,000 yrs old. And your rendering of it is excellent. Those umbrellas are doing what they were invented for, umbrella means sunshade or parasol, just like the Turkish word for it, şemsiye.

Hi Chris, Superb shot of this so old bridge. I think I saw it on Lisa's photo but in the opposite direction. Long bridge and great depth of the photo. I can imagine how hot it must have been. We say - take umbrella also when the weather is good, but we use umbrellas only against rain. The small red umbrella gives nice colourful accent.
Warm regrads Malgo

A well framed image with a long deep perspective. I like the repeating motifs offered by the buttresses. The people bring the scene to life. Excellent rendering of the textural detail.

Mid-summer in Cordoba, this town is usually under 40C degrees, Chris, hope you managed through.
A great old bridge over the Guadalquivir, since the Romans era, and except for vhicles traffic ban, it is well use by tourist enroute the Masquita.
Fine taken an askewed angle upon, to its depth on image of two banks.
Have a nice holiday-weekend,

C'est assez rare de le voir sous cet angle, ce très beau pont. Normalement on le voit en avant plan de la ville. J'aime qu'il nous offre un superbe point de fuite. J'aime aussi la superbe luminosité.

It still amazed me to see structures built thousands of years ago still standing and functional, a great testament to ancient engineers and architects. Whereas in Las Vegas a 100-year old building is consider ancient. Good pov and nice details. Well done, tfs.
