Hello friends and colleagues, today I offer another nice view of the charming Galician fishing village of Guarda, with the beautiful light of the sunset and the beautiful Mount Santa Tecla to the back, from where wonderful views are sighted some I have shown here . Hope you like it, then some letters on the villa.
La Guardia (in Galician and officially A Guarda) is a municipality in southwestern Galicia, the southernmost population of the province of Pontevedra (Spain).
The history of the town of La Guardia is largely conditioned by its privileged geographic location. Strategic place with abundant natural resources ideal for human settlement and political friction between states.
The early history of La Guardia began with the first human remains found in the area. Specifically were in different terraces that make up the Minho river valley where, on the 10000 a. C., began to settle factions of primitive men, on the slopes of Monte key that leads to the river. Hominids were expanded through the valley and the nearby coast, areas favorable for subsistence.
The next chapter was in the Neolithic period, between 5000 to. C. and 2000 a. C., which were found in various places a development of the stone industry. The most characteristic feature of this period are the petroglyphs, carved on the stones with schematic drawings with great courage documentary about the life of this period.
Between 2000 and 1000 a. C. we find the Bronze Culture in which this mineral is manipulated to make, after appropriate casting, a wide range of objects. In these years also date the first contact by sea with Mediterranean cultures, first the Phoenicians and then the Greeks.
During the first millennium ad C consolidated the Iron Age would have the decisive manifestation military culture. No doubt this was the period of greatest splendor in the history of that La Guardia and many of the remains show signs, especially in the abundance of forts: Santa Tecla, A Forca, O Castro and A Bandeira. These include the first quoted, dated between the first century. C. to the first century, located near the summit of the mountain, is one of the most significant samples Galician-Roman Culture of Galicia.
Among the many highlights archaeological castro de Santa Tegra. A walled town with gates on the north and south. It still visible remains of the road layout, housing, canals and water tanks, furnaces ...
This site has an archaeological museum which displays various ancient cultures that settled in La Guardia. The showcases can see parts of the Paleolithic (bifacial knives, spikes ...), Neolithic (polished knives, ceramics ...), from the Bronze Age (sickles, knives ...), Culture castreña ( stone carvings, pottery and bronze and gold jewelry) and Roman (terra sigilatta, tiles, vases, coins ...).
The fort culture was diluted with increasing Romanization. The people were leaving and the beginning to settle in the valleys to farm. From Roman remains found in the center of the population, in the place of Saa, in O Castro and paint. After V century came the conquest of the Swabians that would prolong the Roman welfare.
In the High Middle Ages by the Miño Bajo Christian religious communities settled in various monasteries, the former being subject to administrative concerning Bishop of Tuy. At the time of the conquest and after several reforestation, King Alfonso II granted the hunting ground of the mouth of the river to the Earl of Sotomayor.
From the twelfth century, La Guardia was under the stewardship of the Cistercian Monks who were placed in Oya. Among the documents is given a good account of the thriving commercial life was the locality. A period which will be the urban layout similar to other seaside towns like Bayonne or Noya Galicia, with a triangle-shaped walls, with one side towards the sea and the vertex opposite the church. In late medieval parish church expands to accommodate population growth.
The demographic issue will be decisive in the sixteenth century with the arrival of several pandemics will cause a loss in population. Licensed by Philip II, the Sotomayor promote a convent of Benedictine nuns community independent of the parent of San Paio Antealtatres de Compostela.
The seventeenth century will be crucial to the history of La Guardia due to pressures arising from belligerent Thirty Years War. He built the Castle of Santa Cruz, one garrison conquered by the Portuguese in 1665. With this win belonged to La Guardia Kingdom of Portugal for three years. From that time also is a small fort located on a small island in the mouth of the harbor, a building that was called Atalaya, protagonist element shield villa.
Mouth of the River Miño (border between Spain and Portugal), in Camposancos, La Guardia.
The most important thing happened in later centuries was the decline in living standards, a determining factor that will lead many people to emigrate to America in the nineteenth century, especially the Antilla of Puerto Rico. In 1845 he cleaves is now the city of O Rosal, leaving La Guardia formed in three parishes (Santa Maria de La Guardia, San Lorenzo and La Visitation Salcidos Camposancos). In the second half of this century are installed in place of A Pasaxe an important Jesuit college.
The twentieth century was structured by the social divide that led to the Spanish Civil War. The Guard quickly joined the national uprising, but the conflict was noted especially in the repression of rear, stroll, executions, concentration camps, beatings, extortion, exile.
Currently, exceeded the threshold of XXI century, La Guardia is a town that suffers a covert conversion which, after heyday in the fisheries sector, attempts to transform, due to its lack of industrial fabric, in a town hall dedicated to services, especially tourism. But this shift has alleged that recurrence of a new wave of emigration, this time to the Canary Islands. This problem makes it a municipality with no variations in census years.

Sunset is a beautiful time to photograph, as shown here. It lights the windows and gilds the facades. I particularly like the little details of shimmering water, birds on the foreshore and, especially, the bird gliding in the sky.
Have a great day,

This is a beautiful place, and your photo has done it tremendous justice. The light has illuminated the town perfect, and the glints of gold on the sea look brilliant. I find the many colors and shapes and designs of the various buildings to be really appealing. A perfect seaside town!

This is a very nice composition. The setting sun gives a fine golden glow to the long line of interesting buildings and there are nice reflections in the water. The seagull and the moon are fine detais in the sky. This is altogether a pleasant photo.

Ciao e buona serata
