Another picture in a series of photographs taken in the streets of Ciutadella which lies in the west of Menorca and was once the capital. It is still probably the prettiest of the cities here although Mahon (Maˇ) has been the capital city for nearly three centuries.
I was intrigued by the bright sunlight reflecting off upper storey windows and casting bright patches of reflected light down into and across this narrow colourful street.
Shot in RAW and converted and edited in PSE6.

This is an example of expertly handled difficult light. Such contrasts and every part well exposed. The buildings are pretty and those strange reflections make even the street look nice.

a striking shot of this street in one of my favourite Spanish cities. Love the warm pastel shades and the magical light that makes all the detailing so distinctive. Perfect!
Have a great week - Brian.

like the frame work here by the passage in-between the buildings...nice play of light & shadow in the passage...also like the textured wall around the windows of the buildings...
good chosen POV with nice color tones & sharpness...
good street shot...

Hello John ,
A colorful street is often a good and interesting subject . But no so easy to cature . You got two difficulties , here : the street was very narrow , and the light were contrasted ; you've managed thses problems very well .

Charming narrow street!
Beautiful picture of it!
Highlights are the slim vertical format (almost a bookmark version), colors, management of (sort of difficult) light and composition!
TFS - congrats,

Wow, John, You seem to know what you are doing here, as a narrow street, in the shade and a wee bit of light and sky above, Bravo, this is fantastic, love your Pov, Cheers Iain.
Ps, Thanks for the new word. Ditty.

Nice view on this narrow street with an interesting curve on the right.
Good lights balance with the shades.

these alleyway streets and homes always capture my attention. I have photos of the same style of architecture in Gamlastan in Stockholm sweden - but taken with my handheld pocket camera many years ago, so you know i feel the need to go back!
lovely shot, and i'm glad there is some bright blues peeking out at the top, too often we see these compositions with a blown out skyline.
I often wonder...what side of the alley is more desireable to own? the sunny or shady side during the daytime?
alot of owners of direct sunlight keep their sunshades closed all day, negating the natural suns warm rays - thats certainly the case in Las Vegas! People there want to purchase homes that are shaded. Here in canada, homes in the sunlight are preferred. Just a thought....

Hi John, I love the view down this narrow lane, the pink of the building is very eye catching, beautifully managed light & the depth is superb, well captured, & TFS, kind regards Wilson.

How's the head after all that pluge? Hope you're recovering steadily.
I've been meaning to have a crack at this one for a while. Love colours, the management of the shade and of course the excellent perspective of the narrow street and vertical frame in combination. I'm not a fan of bookmark frames, simply because my evil suspicious mind always wonders what's been cut out. But here I think it works well and accentuates the narrow characteristic street of this beautiful town.
Cheers, have a great day

The chosen format worked well as it fits the narrow streets of this town. The perspective gives us a nice view on the cascading effect of the houses. The lighting is well handled as details on the houses are beautifully exposed! Well captured!
have a great day,
