Court of the Myrtles (Patio de los Arrayanes or the Court of the Pond). The water from the pond helped to cool the palace and acted as a symbol of power. Because water was usually in short supply, the technology required to keep these ponds full was expensive and difficult. Court of the Myrtles is 42 m long by 22 m wide, and in the centre there is a large pond set in the marble pavement, full of goldfish, and with myrtles growing along its sides.

the Alahambra is a place that I have always wanted to see, and your capture here does a brilliant job of sharing its beauty until I manage to actually get there. The reflection is stunning, as is the architecture and the beuatiful peaceful blue sky. Nicely done!

The reflections on the water are assets to the composition. The length of the pond is giving depth to the scene. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the Court of the Myrtles. The light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.
