Bless you, a photo from Barcelona, Catalonia

Photographer's Note

This picture was taken in Barcelona but I cannot trace which church, cathedral or building this is. If anyone from Barcelona (or elsewhere) can identify it I would be very grateful. I think it is in the Gothic quarter. What caught my attention was the statue whose hand was so wonderfully placed over the street cleaner's head. We are certainly all very grateful for clean streets and 'bless you' seemed appropriate and a bit of fun!

Well seen and excellent executed. The worker stands out very well with the colourful clouthing against the relatively grey background. The wonderful street lamp provides balance and some depth to the scene. Great work! TFS. Have a nice day.

Gosh, you are observant! This is a great shot and one which is only captured by the photographer who keeps his/her eyes open and a camera ready at all times. And, no, it's not just luck.

When I saw the thumbnail, I thought that you had desaturated the picture with the exception of the person. Clearly you haven't but it is an added bonus that, apart from the street cleaner's clothing, the rest of the picture tends toward monochrome. Excellent composition and sharpness too.

your photo is brilliant and ironic. the expression of the woman at work is incredibly funny :-)) Its being unconscious of the scene behind her is much likeable one. the composition is interesting, and the color of its dress is a point a lot attractive in this moment nearly in B/W. cheers!

A scene of life in a very original, creative and efficienec presentation. The green and the yellow color arise very well. Good balalnce in the composition with the differents elements well located. the lamp in the FG give depht to the image.

A very interesting, balanced composition with of course a nice touch of humour. The lamppost is very prominent, but is balanced by the statue well. The luminescent dress of the sweeping lady almost grabs our eyes. Well done!

Absolutely love this and the title. I like the combination of 2 strong elements here, no less an absorbing image, but its the cleaner's obvious delight that really draws my eye. What a capture, amazingly she is perfectly at the right spot at the right time and great finishing touch to the image. A stupendous moment captured with so much character and feeling! Its either my memory, or TE's database, but I am sure I had commented here before ! ( I suspect its the memory ) I like this a lot, for its simplicity, but also for its vision. I have said of your work before, you see things that others might not, and this splash of colour against the otherwise virtual B&W image is well seen. The flst light and no shadows help create the image too, shadows would spoil it I think.
Normally, I would like to see the character looking into the picture, but somehow this, right on the edge, looking out creates an air of mystery.
And - not least, how wise your note. We so often take the mundane for granted, but wouldn't we miss them if they stopped. In my earlier life, when I had a proper job (!) we paid our cleaners the same as our skilled fitters for just that reason !

Hi Ann,

That's a very clever street shot, one that requires a good sense of observation and a quick reflex. In these circumstances, not everyone would take the time to build up a composition, more worried to capture the moment. But it's obvious here that you figured out a nice way to structure your shot, framing carefully the scene within its context.

I like how the worker uniform stands out from the grey environment.

Excellent framing ! You've got a good eye ! When architecture joins daily life, it can makes some humorous pictures. With yellow-green clothes, the worker stands out from the urban scenery.
