Photographer’s Note

Catedral del Buen Pastor :
Work started on the Cathedral in 1889. It was architect Manuel Echave's project, but during the building process several modifications were made. The new temple opened in 1897.

The building is neo-gothic in style. It has three naves; the centre is the tallest, and it turns into five at the presbytery. The walls are of masonry stone, reinforced on the outside with buttresses. The height and interior space of this cathedral are exceptional. It is the biggest church in San Sebastián and well situated, surrounded by gardens and forming an interesting religious axis with the Santa María Basilica which is just opposite. A Chillida sculpture has been placed above the main entrance.

Mass times: - Weekdays 9am, 10am, 11am & 7.30pm. - Sundays and holidays 9am, 10am, 11am, midday, 1.30pm & 6pm. - Saturdays and vespers 7pm & 8pm.
