Photographer’s Note

San Pol de Mar is a municipality in the comarca of Maresme, in the province of Barcelona, situated on the coast between Calella and Canet de Mar, in Spain.

This coastal town grew around the monastery of Sant Pau, in the tenth century. Traditionally it was a humble fishing village until the end of the nineteenth century and early twentieth. Thanks to the presence of the railway line it was discovered by the Catalan bourgeoisie and was chosen as a summer resort for its charm and proximity to Barcelona.

This small town's economy now relies on tourism.
