This will never be good without the human element. You made a good choice in making a B&W composition as the lamp glows exposing the mans facial expression.

Hi Brendan, the moment is very good and the expression of the man great..
50 f/1.4 is very good with this type of situation..
a bit pity we can't see more of the scene around him..

Hello Brendan,
The song of the lamp? A streetlamp named desire? Ok, ok. I stop...
I will admit, I thought first, seeing the thumbnail, that it was only a street lamp... And I was a little desperate about TE... But when I read "vapours", I thought that there should be more than meets the eye. And indeed, there was that little surprise waiting for me... A man with a wide open mouth! :)
Actually, I'm quite alright to not see the scene around. Hence, I can imagine all kind of stories that I won't tell here. ;)

If I didn't know the BG for this pic, I would have thought
