Photographer's Note

Lekeitio is a nice fishing village located on the coast of Bizkaia, in the Lea-Artibai region,based on the slopes of Otoio and Lumentza Mountains.
The river Lea flows into the sea in the municipality between Isuntza and Karraspio beaches, leaving to the left San Nicolás Island.

The streets of Lekeitio give the opportunity of enjoying an abundant artistic heritage, represented by the basilica of the Asunción de Santa María, with its magnificent gold-plated Gothic altarpiece, considered the third biggest in the Spanish state.
Likewise, there are other interesting spots to visit such as the Uriarte, Oxangoiti, Uribarri and Abaroa palaces.
Nice ti visit the Independencia square, with its music kiosk and Pascual Abaroa's monument then walk down to the Txatxo port in order to see Lekeitio's fishing activity.
The hermitage of San Juan Talako awaits with magnificent views of the coast.

Other places worth visiting are Isuntza Bridge, the San Nicolás Island, to which visitors can gain access on foot, and Santa Catalina lighthouse, all of them offer a privileged landscape and enhance the charm of this municipality. The Isuntza beach is also remarkable as a nice walk along the beach will amaze visitors with the incomparable panoramic view.

Lekeitio's patron Saint festival is consecrated to San Antolin from September 1 to 8. Among the different activities I like to mention the goose day, September 5, which attracts many visitors.
Besides that, the festival of San Pedro takes place at the end of June; during the festival takes place the "Kaxarranka" dance, where one dancer dances over a chest held by eight fishermen.

Ελένη γεια σου κα πάλι,
η περιοχή αυτή της Βόρεις Ισπανίας είναι ιδιαιτέρως όμορφη αλλά ευτυχώς όχι πλήρως τουριστικοποιημένη με αποτέλεσμα να βλέπει κάποιος ομορφιές που δεν υπάρχουν πλέον στα μέρη όπου ο τουρισμός έχει αλλοιώσει τα πάντα.

Posting a beautiful series about northern Spain's coastal-towns, and this is no exception: a marvelous view on the waterfront promenade with anchored vessels, and facades with great many colors and red roof-tops.

Hi Eleni,
A very attractive harbour view with many boats and plenty of cars. Not so much people around, maybe they are taking a siesta. I like the parallel lines of clouds, forest and red roofs above the harbour scene. Also an interesting note!

hi eleni,
this is a lovely bright and colourful scene looking along the length of the harbour. the large green boat provides a good focal point. the hills help to frame the picture well, while the blue sky and fluffy white clouds complete the image very nicley. you have managed the light superbly. great depth and detail, especially evident in the fronts of the buildings where the sharpness is excellent.

I like how this photo is divided into three horizontal layers: sea, buildings and sky. The houses' bright colors create attention drawing factor, while the blue sea and sky frame nicely the whole composition. This seems to be very charming little village with nice architecture.

Hello Eleni
Like in my posted photo of Sesimbra this village also is a fishing one. Like you I prefer wild beaches away from great movements of people. I do not like Sesimbra as beach. But I do not trouble to drive there. Traffic is ever dangerous at such places. This village in Spain is unknown for me. As I talked about Durango I am sure It already has some hotel. I was there about 30 years ago. But I like the landscape seen by buss. Perhaps one day I drive there taking GPS. At north only have drove in the area of Santiago de Compostela. Well these seaside villages are good to eat good grilled fish. Warm regards. Tomi
