Las Cabezas de Hierro son dos de los picos más importantes y altos de la Sierra de Guadarrama, con una altitud de 2.383 metros, y también son los dos más altos de la Cuerda Larga, una importante ramificación de la sierra.

El nombre les viene a estas cimas de que contengan algo de hierro magnético. Esta montaña es la segunda más alta de la Sierra de Guadarrama, después de Peñalara, si no consideramos el Risco de los Claveles como una montaña independiente. Esta es una cumbre doble, es decir, son dos picos que están muy cerca uno del otro (700 m les separan). El más alto de los dos es la Cabeza de Hierro Mayor (2.383 m), siendo el segundo pico más alto de la Sierra de Guadarrama y de la Comunidad de Madrid. Su pico hermano es la Cabeza de Hierro Menor (2.374 m).

The Cabezas de Hierro (Spanish for Iron Heads) are two of the most important and high peaks of the Mountain range of Guadarrama, with an altitude of 2,383 meters over de sea level, and also both they are the highest peaks Cuerda Larga (Spanish for long cord), an important ramification of the mountain range.

The name comes to these peaks from which they contain something of magnetic iron. This mountain is the second highest one of the Mountain range of Guadarrama, after Peñalara, if we did not consider the Risco de los Claveles (Spanish for Carnations Peak) like an independent mountain. This is a double summit, two tips that are closely together one of the other (700 ms separate to them). Highest of both it is the Greater Iron Head (2,383 ms), being the second higher tip of the Mountain range of Guadarrama and the Community of Madrid. Its brother tip is the Smaller Iron Head (2,374 ms).
