Photographer’s Note

The church of Sta.Maria, of the XVI century, is one of the jewels of the Galician Gothic. It was paid by the sailors and fishermen and built by Joao Noble and Cornelius de Holanda on a site where there used to be a pagan temple and later a Romanesque church.
In the photo, one of the impressive gargoyles "spitting" at the photographer :-)

La Basílica de Sta.María, del S.XVI, es una de las joyas del gótico gallego. Fue encargada por el gremio de pesacadores y marineros y construida por Joao Noble y Cornelius de Holanda en un antiguo castro donde en tiempos hubo un templo pagano y una iglesia románica.
En la foto, una de las impresionantes gárgolas "escupiendo" a la fotógrafa :-)
