Homage to David Meca Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is the same sculpture I uploaded yesterday, seen from the back. It's in the corner of a pedestrian square, very close to a staircase, some restaurants and a few trees. I've never got the shooting angle I'd like to... For an idea of the size, that hand is over one meter high. Francisco Leiro, the sculptor, has two more works in my city, both of them controversial for their (lack of) beauty.
This post is an homage to David Meca, a Spanish swimmer who is entirely devoted to very demanding challenges. His latest one was to cross the Strait of Gibraltar three times without stopping; that involved swimming also at night, with freezing temperatures. After twelve hours swimming, with 2 metre high waves, he had to abandon. He has been about to die several times during his challenges. Take a look at his impressive CV at Wikipedia.

Hola Ines,
I like the angle you've choose showing clearly the swimmer in action and the shining iron,just regret the part of the arm hidden by the branch...

Puede estar orgulloso David con semejante estatua! un buen homenaje . Tiene que ser dificil poder tomar un buen angulo con estas medidas , pero tu lo has captado muy bien, es una bonita composicion. Un saludo! Carme.

Hola Inés,
Ya veo que no ibamos mal encaminados en nuestras suposiciones. O sea que homenaje a David Meca. La verdad es que no siento yo ninguna simpatía por su persona, ni por ninguna que dedique su vida a los records.
En cuanto a la foto tengo que opinar sinceramente que no me gusta, solo aporta el brazo a la de ayer pero como contrapartida ni se aprecia bien la cara y además hay demasiados elementos de distracción en la foto, la rama del árbol, la barandilla, el edificio del fondo. Creo que tiene que ser realmente complicado con una escultura de semejantes dimensiones (por cierto que tampoco me parece muy atractiva).

Hola Inés!

Yo creo que la prespectiva es buena, que dadas las dificultades técnicas está bien conseguida. Entre la de ayer y esta... me quedo con esta. ¿me dejas que pruebe un WS? casi que me atrevo a quitarte el arbol aún que no lo tengo claro del todo de como hacerlo. De hecho si lo talamos una noche de estas los ecologistas se nos comen vivos pero tendríamos algo más de visión por si alguien se decide a tomar otra foto!!
