Lugo is the name of the capital of the province of the same name, in Galicia, Spain.

The city was founded between the 26s and 12s adC by Paulo Fabio Máximo bequeathed of César Augusto, in whose honor baptized her as Lucus Augusti (the Latin word lucus means " skylight " o " sacred forest ", according to the different authors); although one of the most widespread hypotheses is sent by him that the Romans would have made his a previous place name, which would allude to the Celtic God Lugh. Fruto of the expansive politics carried out in the epoch of Augusto, the city was founded on an ancient military camp installed before the wars cántabras. It is a question of the most ancient capital of Galicia.

Framed in a region of rounded, old and not very high mountains, it is placed on a plateau, to a height of approximately 465 meters on the level of the sea, on the foot of which they find the course of the river I Mine and of one of his tributaries, the small Moment. It is provided with 94.271 inhabitants, for what it is the fourth city of Galicia (January 1, 2006, source: INE).

Lugo is provided with a Roman wall constructed at the end of the IIIrd century and beginning of the IVth, beginning of the low Roman empire. The wall, declared Patrimony of the Humanity for the UNESCO in the year 2000 and joined from October 6, 2007 with the Big Wall China of Qinhuangdao, survives complete — the only case in the whole world — and surrounds the center of the city, the cathedral, the provincial museum, the town hall and other buildings of interest.

The Town hall has also flavor, and presides at an urban environment that leaks dignity; good zone for walk or to drink a coffee.

The frontage of the Town hall, of the beginning of the XVIIIth century, work of Ferro Caveiro, stands out for being an archetypal example of the Galician baroque, with his stony decoration by means of badges, earmuffs, drops and volutas. The tower of the clock is later, of ends of the XIXth and, according to some experts, it breaks the harmony of the construction.

I like your POV here using the roses to create a border at the bottom of the shot. The lighting and colors are fine with excellent sharpness and DOF. The partly cloudy sky forms a nice backdrop for the photo. The people give us a nice sense of scale.

Hola Charo,
Excellent photos of this grand building and the surrounding park. I am also in agreement that the clocktower does not follow the architecture enough to warrant its placement above the original structure. If one were to look closely you could see that there are not any of the decorative features on the clocktower as is there placed on the facade of the main building.
A beautiful location seen here, warm skies, and most of all your foreground, the rose is perfect and settles the heart as you enter into the era of the Romans.

Me gusta mucho tu punto de vista captando las flores en primer plano junto a la farola poduciendo un buen marco a tan impresionante arquitectura. La definicion y la iluminacion estan muy buenas y los colores estupendos. Se pueden ver las largas sombras indicando que captaste esta estupenda foto en una hora perfecta. Magnifique photo de l'hôtel de ville et de son environnement. Bonne qualité d'image qui nous fait bien voir la belle structure de cet édiffice. Les roses et le feuillage en avant-plan donne une touche de couleurs supplémentaires à la beautéé de la photo.

Beautiful capture of this impressive 18th century town square. The lovely blue sky set off the wonderful courthouse and its marvelous details. The street lamps in the foreground are a charming element to this fine image.
