National park of Monfragüe

The National Park of Monfragüe is placed in the province of Cáceres, and represents one of the enclaves most extensive and representative of forest and Mediterranean bush.

It was the first natural space protected in Extremadura. East natural area can be considered to be a vale furrowed by the rivers Tagus and Tietar, of approximately 30 km long per approximately 7 km wide.

The saws that delimit this vale - that scarcely reach 800 m. of altitude-, they receive to an important variety of biomoles: oak woods, forest and Mediterranean bush, roquedos, reservoirs and creeks, allowing the existence of a rich and varied vegetable and animal life.

The river Tajo and his tributary, the river Tiétar, provide the aquatic way and sculpt in the quartzite big stacks where spectacular colonies of tawny vultures settle and nidifican the peculiar hawk, the eagle perdicera, the black stork and the real owl. In his shores and river beds we can find to the kingfisher, myths, cormorants and nightingales, in addition to others related to the aquatic way as the otter.

From the castle of Monfragüe these photographers were in the hunting for good snapshots of the tawny vulture that in big quantity they were flying over over our heads.

Two WS with other captures of the park.
