Photographer’s Note

Plasencia es una ciudad situada en el norte de la provincia de Cáceres, a orillas del río Jerte, en la Comunidad Autónoma de Extremadura, España.

Conocida como la Perla del Valle, cuenta con una población de 39.982 habitantes (INE 2007) y es el segundo núcleo urbano de la provincia y el cuarto de la región. Ejerce de capital para el norte de Extremadura y acoge servicios del Estado y de la Junta tanto para la población que alberga como para la zona norte de la región.

Es un destino turístico de primer orden, dentro de la Comunidad Autónoma, dado el caracter monumental e histórico de la ciudad, así como por su cercanía a los recursos turísticos de las comarcas cercanas.

Es también la sede de la Diócesis del mismo nombre.

Se encuentra al norte de la ciudad monumental.
Por debajo de sus arcos pasa la carretera N-630 o Ruta de la Plata. Es una obra que data del siglo XVI, siendo construido por Juan de Flandes. Cumplía la función de traer agua a la ciudad desde la Sierra de Cabezabellosa y El Torno. En la actualidad se conservan en buen estado 55 arcos, 7 de ellos junto al Hospital Virgen del Puerto y los restantes en San Antón, paraje donde existía una ermita dedicada a dicho santo, hoy desaparecida y que da nombre a la zona. Estos últimos arcos miden en total más de 300 metros de pilastras anchas y sólidas y arcos de medio punto con dovelas regulares y perfectas. Tiene una altura de 18 metros en su parte sur.

He is to the north of the monumental city.
Below his arches there happens(passes) the road N-630 or Route of the Silver. It is a work that dates back to the 16th century, being constructed by Juan of Flanders. It was fulfilling the function to bring water to the city from Cabezabellosa's Saw and The Wheel. At present 55 arches remain in good condition, 7 of them close to the Virgin Hospital of the Port and the remaining ones in San Antón, place where there existed a hermitage dedicated to the above mentioned saint, today eliminated and that gives name to the zone. The latter arches measure in whole more than 300 meters of broad and solid pilasters and round arches with dovelas regular and perfect. It has a height of 18 meters in his south part.

Preciosos colores bajo esa luz intensa...no sólo tenemos el acueducto de Segovia...claro!!

Tu especial punto de vista sirve para organizar una buena composición, muy efectista y que resalta los contrastes...

A very nice presentation of this beautiful bridge whic arise very well in the green of the vegetation. The Fg give a great depht to the image. I like tto the red of the flowers which arise too in the green.

Bonjour Charo,
La végétation prouve que cette image est bien en Espagne, conjuguée avec l'architecture. Les point de vue et cadrage sont excellents. Sous une belle lumière, une réalisation parfaite. Bravo.

Hola amiga Charo,
no me extraña en absoluto que te guste tanto Plasencia y nos recomiendes una visita allí, por lo que veo en tu foto es un lugar agradable y con una arquitectura monumental. El acueducto nos da una muestra de ello.
Hay una buena perspectiva y un buen dinamismo en el encuadre, y las palmeras y los árboles con las flores decoran la escena con un espléndido toque primaveral.
Los WS son muy ilustrativos como información gráfica adicional.
Bonito trabajo.

A beautiful scene with the sweeping remnant of the aqueduct and the plant life in the foreground park. This image has a great feel for the history that has been attached to the region, not only with the aqueduct, but the beautiful gardens that welcome entry.

You really do a wonderful presentation. The work shops really finish the story the top shot starts. All the color and detail are awesome and the lighting of mid day works well here though the lawn mower is a bit less than exotic as the rest of the shot is ;D Great work,
