Photographer’s Note

Augustobriga, antigua villa romana situada en la margen del río Tajo. Se encontraba en la calzada romana que iba desde Emerita Augusta (Mérida) hasta Caesarobriga. Actualmente los únicos restos son las columnas de antiguo templo parecido al de Diana en Mérida.

Los restos romanos más importantes eran:

Mármoles: columnata construida en el siglo II, trasladada en 1963 a su nuevo emplazamiento por la inundación del pantano de Valdecañas.

El templo de la Cilla, del que se conservaban tres columnas incompletas de orden corintio. También estas tres columnas fueron trasladadas a un nuevo emplazamiento.

Las murallas, en las afueras del pueblo se encontraban grandes vestigios de una muralla.

El Acueducto, que tenía un metro de altura y poco más medio de anchura.
Las Termas romanas, se encontraron en las excavaciones realizadas poco antes de la inundación con tuberías de plomo de forma ovalada, también aparecieron en la excavación mosaicos, cerámica, restos de hornos de fundición y numerosas monedas del imperio.

La calzada romana, se pueden encontrar restos en las inmediaciones del Castillo de Alija.

La población se convirtió, en tiempos medievales, en Talavera la Vieja, hoy desaparecida al quedar sumergida por el embalse de Valdecañas (Cáceres) en 1963.

Augustobriga, ancient Roman village located on the banks of the River Tagus. He was in the Roman road that went from Emerita Augusta (Mérida) until Caesarobriga. Today the only remnants of the columns are similar to the ancient temple of Diana in Merida.

Roman remains were most important:

Ciao cara Charo,
hai scelto la luce più bella, più calda, per catturare questo "ricamo" di pietra inserendolo in una composizione piacevole con i colori delicati e con una bella sensazione di spazio aperto. Bella anche la luce che illumina solo la parte alta degli alberi. Eccellente fotografia, bravissima!

A fine composition, but I especially like the way the light falls across the columns. The tones and textures are very well rendered with the image taking on a 3D effect.
