Photographer's Note
he fantastic equestrian statue of Francisco Pizarro, president of the Plaza Mayor in Trujillo near the church of San Martin, in this image I wanted to capture it from behind, showing the bottom of the Palacio Marques de la Conquista.
As equestrian statue of Francisco Pizarro meets a set of three bronze sculptures works of American sculptor Charles Cary Rumsey, located one in the city of Trujillo, Spain (birthplace of Pizarro) another in the city of Lima, capital of Peru (where he died and is buried), and most recently in the city of Buffalo (USA) at the front of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
Represent the conquistador Francisco Pizarro mounted on a horse and dressed for battle with armor and sword. Pizarro is famous for leading the conquest of Peru in the sixteenth century and founded the city of Lima on January 18, 1535 establishing what would become the Viceroyalty of Peru.
++++
The church of San Martin begins to be built in the fourteenth century, and continued for more than a century, with significant changes being finished on its initial trace during the second half of the sixteenth century, circa 1564.
So has architectural elements that are characteristic of Gothic, body and main structure, and also of rebirth in the works in the last stage of construction. It consists of a single wide ship made of stone and covered with starry vaults, with chapels between the buttresses, which at the top is clearly outside.
Has documented intervention in this church by architect Sancho de Cabrera, who worked on the ship, the tower and the choir. Inside has important Renaissance tombs belonging to various important families in the municipality.
The exterior is dominated by the large volume of its stout stone structure stands. It includes a simple Renaissance façade at the foot, between a sober square base tower on one side and a thin polygonal turret clock to another-this, open superiorly and topped with pyramidal spire.
---------------------------------------------------
++++

Hola Luis,
From the series of photo taken in Trujillo, this is the most enchanting view on the plazza, to my oppinion.
You managed to combine here the arcade on left, statue and church, while another big and unique edifice rises on far side - and those stairs in abundance.
People scaled the size of this really an intriguing location.
Buen fin de semana,
Ike

Hi Luis
Superb composition which stands out well even in the thumbnail as the warmly lit church facade and touch of rustic red just draw the eyes in. It is technically well done, a superb rendition of this historic sight in fine details, clarity and perspective. I appreciate how the statue -as secondary focal- gives a pleasant depth as well, Contrast in colors is simply stunning and the ambience evokes a special atmosphere like looking at journey back in time. Reallty appreciate your infor notes. Brilliant piece of photo. Congrats
Kind regards

Hola Luis,
this is so far my favourite composition from this beautiful square simply because I love postcards and classic views. This encompasses so many attractive pieces of architecture and the monument as well from a good distance to ensure good perspective. Great light.
And the flag is there too, to confirm the location.
Beautiful picture,

Hola Luis,
Great to see this statue of Francisco Pizarro from a different angle! I like this view, as well, with the background of an imposing old church. This image is so filled up with a lot of interesting details to take in - many stairs of steps, people going up and down the steps and even sitting on them, different buildings with a lot of arches, birds flying above the church - busy and lively scene in a picturesque old town.
Thanks and have a great day!
