Photographer's Note

Trujillo (Cáceres), is one of the most interesting tourist towns of Extremadura.

Located east of the city on a hill, this privileged location melting pot has been over the centuries. Old, cobbled streets, and superb views to explore corners make this site into a real show.

Highlight on the urban silhouette impressive medieval walled, with its numerous towers and X century Moorish castle in magnificent condition, along with the civil architecture of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, characterized by its noble mansions linked to the main characters of the discovery and colonization of America.

The Plaza Mayor in Trujillo (Cáceres) forms an architectural space of great beauty and monumentality, where we find the churches of the Blood, Baroque, and San Martin, Gothic-Renaissance.

Among other unique buildings, it should be noted the Palace of the Conquest, Plateresque, Chaves Palace-Cárdenas, Condes de Quintanilla, and Piedras Albas interesting palace, with a Florentine inspiration gallery.

Trujillo (Cáceres) also has numerous convents, like the Jerónimas, the XV, Santa Clara, the s. XVI, of the Dominicans, founded by Queen Isabella, and the convent of San Pedro, and San Francisco that houses inside family burials Francisco Pizarro.

Trujillo (Cáceres), es una de las poblaciones de mayor interés turístico de Extremadura.

Enclavado al este de la capital sobre una colina, este privilegiado emplazamiento ha sido crisol de culturas a lo largo de los siglos. Calles antiguas y empedradas, vistas inigualables y rincones por explorar convierten este sitio en un auténtico espectáculo.

Resalta sobre el conjunto urbano la impresionante silueta del recinto amurallado medieval, con sus numerosas torres y el castillo árabe del siglo X, en magnífico estado de conservación, junto con la arquitectura civil de los siglos XV y XVI, caracterizada por sus mansiones nobiliarias ligadas a los principales personajes del descubrimiento y colonización de América.

La Plaza Mayor de Trujillo (Cáceres) conforma un espacio arquitectónico de gran belleza y monumentalidad, donde encontramos las iglesias de la Sangre, de estilo barroco, y la de San Martín, gótico-renacentista.

Entre otras singulares construcciones, hay que reseñar el Palacio de la Conquista, de estilo plateresco, el palacio de Chaves-Cárdenas, Condes de Quintanilla, y el interesante palacio de Piedras Albas, con una galería de inspiración florentina.

Trujillo (Cáceres) también cuenta con numerosos conventos, como el de las Jerónimas, del s.XV, el de Santa Clara, del s. XVI, el de las Dominicas, fundado por Isabel la Católica, y el convento de San Pedro, y el de San Francisco que en su interior alberga enterramientos de la familia de Francisco Pizarro.

Marvelous photo on the big plaza, old buildings with the beautiful archs and the statue on side, well collected.
The fortress and the old wall, guarded in old days, and you managed to use it as a "frame" to the scenery.

Hola amigo Luís, me gusta mucho esta bonita e interesante foto de la magnifica plaza con interesantes edificios y el magnifico castillo en todo lo alto, una bonita e interesante ciudad la que visité en 2002, esta interesante imagen tiene muy buena nitidez y profundidad, magnifica luz y color. Nice view of this old interesting town. Nice low houses with arcades, interesting castle above on hill. Interesting these wide stairs. Excellent presentation with beautiful colours and superb sharpness. I was in Trujillo but in Peru, also very interesting town.

You have composed this shot well, the off-centre fountain leading across the piazza to the different horizontal layers of steps, arches, verandahed buildings and, eventually the castle.
It is a sharp, well saturated shot of this charming old town.
