Photographer’s Note

My photo number 200.

In his frontier stretch between the municipalities of Caminomorisco (Cáceres) and Sotoserrano (Salamanca), between The Hurdes and Saw of France, between Extremadura and Castille and Leon, the river Alagón describes a sinuous tracing leaving between his spectacular curves meanders as that of the image, which limits an almost circular peninsula that turns practically into island when they raise of level the waters dammed by the Prey of Gabriel and Lady's man.

This meander is next to the locality hurdana of Bad River of Below (Cáceres).

The visit to The Hurdes, it is possible to define with a word: Spectacular. Paradisiac sceneries that although perhaps long ago they were a stage of the abandonment, at present it is provided with good routes of communication escorted always by beautiful forests of pines and the water that falls down vertiginosamente from the steep saws up to the vales forming spectacular meanders.

Impressive cascades of water that perforate the slate with a sonorous explosion of life and color, and the farmhouses forming authentic ethnographic sets and that is necessary to preserve for future generations and finally, the exquisite meal as the paw of kid hurdano to the oven.

The half of my roots are in this zone of Extremadura to which I have special fondness.

Hi Charo,
Looks like the Horseshoe Bend in Arizona, but here it is much greener which brings a lot of life in the image. Composition and light is very good, just as your pov which i like here betetr than the ws versions...good work.

Beautiful composition. We have something similar in Germany called "Saarschleife." The little bit of light at the bottom of the picture makes all the difference, creating a nice contrast. I think the shot could be slightly sharper though.

Hello Charo,
A beautiful setting is this horseshoe bend in the river. Here in the states we have one horshoe at the Snake River and on the Colorado River at the Grand Canyon, the only two that I am familiar with anyway.
The countryside is very lush and the greens make one want to sit and find themselves enveloped by the beauty of all things natural here.
Excellent choixe in allowing the foreground appear at the base of the image as it holds the scene on the ground below.

Quel merveilleux paysage avec cette presqu'île au milieu de la rivière. Très bonne composition et bonne idée d'inclure les arbustes en avant-plan. Excellent qualité d'image et bon contrate entre l'ombre et la lumiére. J'ajouterais un point pour tes notes, si je le pouvais.

Tu punto de vista nos ofrece una gran vista de este espectacular meandro, es increíble su bella geometría y cómo dibuja una gran herradura en este bello paisaje.

I have seen similar bends from France and USA, now I know about one in Spain too...

Congratulations on your 200th post Charo. A very impressive image which captures the marvel of Mother Nature in this perfectly formed horseshoe bend. No puedo ayudarme en la adquisición un poco envidioso de usted ya que usted tiene también suerte de haber estado estando de pie allí al lado del río que serpentea por las cascadas de montañas.
