Spring in BCN Photo

Photographer’s Note

Realized in 1979, this great complex of offices was projected as the central seat of the Catalan Banking and of the Industrial Bank of Catalonia. Its three great octogonal towers of 1o floors were constructed in the point at the time most representative of Barcelona, the crossing between Diagonal and Gran Via of Carles III, where the price of the soil was more expensive. The authors were two architects recognized, Josep Maria Fargas and Enric Tous, which had followed an architectural evolution detached from the dominant line of the School of Barcelona, inspired initially by Mies van der Rohe, Richard Neutra and Craig Ellwood.

In the office complex Tous and Fargas initiated an evolution towards a greater relation with the environment and the reality. By this reason its shapes of more organic towers and the showy window boxes of the facades, symptomatic of an inexperienced ecological sensibility.
The publishing group Planet bought this building in 2001 for 84,14 million Euros.

The photo catches its architectural elegance from a point of view in which I have included the flowers in foreground to create a very special sensation.

The WS 1 is a sight from a more backward point of view.

The WS 2 is a general sight in which it is possible to see the Diagonal Avenue and the bench from where I took the main photo.

Realizado en 1979, este gran complejo de oficinas fue proyectado como sede central de la Banca Catalana y del Banco Industrial de Cataluña. Se construyeron sus tres grandes torres octogonales de 10 plantas en el punto entonces más representativo de Barcelona, el cruce entre Diagonal y Gran Via de Carles III, donde el precio del suelo era más caro. Los autores fueron dos arquitectos reconocidos, Josep Maria Fargas y Enric Tous, que habían seguido una evolución arquitectónica desvinculada de la línea dominante de la Escuela de Barcelona, inspirados inicialmente en Mies van der Rohe, Richard Neutra y Craig Ellwood.

En el complejo de oficinas, Tous y Fargas iniciaron una evolución hacia una mayor relación con el entorno y la realidad. De ahí sus formas de torres más orgánicas y las vistosas jardineras de las fachadas, sintomáticas de una primeriza sensibilidad ecológica.
El grupo editorial Planeta compró este edificio en 2001 por 84,14 millones de euros.

La foto capta su elegancia arquitectónica desde un punto de vista en el que he incluido las flores en el primer plano para crear una sensación muy especial.

El WS 1 es una vista desde un punto de vista más retrasado.

El WS 2 es una vista general en la que se puede ver la Avenida Diagonal y el banco desde donde tomé la foto principal.

Ciao Josep,
l'architettura dell'edificio è molto bella, ma è il tuo POV a rendere l'immagine molto piacevole per via dell'inclusione dei fiori in primo piano e grazie ai colori ed alla perfetta qualità della foto. Un carissimo abbraccio.

Hola Josep,
La primera vez que vi este edificio (hace muchísimos años) me encantó con las plantas colgandos de sus terrazas como si fueran cascadas, por entonces yo no había visto algo parecido, o eso creo.
La composición es preciosa y la idea ha sido muy buena, además has conseguido muy buena definición en los dos planos.

O PdV desta imagem é mesmo muito bonito por transmitir a perfeita ilusão de que é tudo flores à volta do edifício. A nitidez da foto é fantástica e o pormeno do avião no céu é excelente também.

Bonjour, mon bon ami Josep,
Retour du printemps en pleine période automnale, c'est bien agréable (je crois que cette saison que j'aime le plus, c'est l'éveil de la terre) !
Très belle mise en image avec ces fleurs du premier plan qui semblent gigantesques.

Preciosima fotografia, es la exaltacion de la primavera sin duda, me encanta el punto de vista con las bellas flores en primer plano y la moderna arquitectura detras, en este caso tambien dulcificada por esas terrazas tambien repletas de plantas, las ciudades asi son mucho mas humanas. Color y nitidez como siempre sensacionales y no era tan facil esta gran nitidez en los dos planos,elegante presentacion tambien. Los WS son otras dos buenas fotos principales.
La nota otra seña de identidad en tus presentaciones es estupenda y ampliamente informativa, asi da gusto,uno ve las imagenes bajo otro prisma.

veig que vas aprofitar molt bé el passeig per la Diagonal.
En aquest cas les flors de primer pla són una continuació de la vegetació tan simbòlica d'aquests edificis.

This building is really buried in verdure. I have never seen so many flowers and other vegetation as a decoration. The flower design is simply luxurious. To show this fact in your picture you have used a perfect point of view, excellent composition and very high-quality photographic technique. Very good job!

Travailler dans un site pareil ne doit pas être désagréable du tout !!! 3 belles et lumineuses photo où j'apprécie particulièrement la netteté qui permet de joliment mettre en évidence ici ce permier plan fleuri qui contraste avec tous ces balcons verdoyants. Un vrai paradis pour les insectes également. Joli coup d'oeil Josep.

Hola Josep,

What a spectacular shot of one of my favorite cities in the Mediterranean. The depth of field is beautifully handled, as are the colors. The very low vantage point makes veritable trees of the flowers in the foreground, with the Lilliputian creatures seen between the "trunks" of the threes.

I was in Barcelona in late August, enjoying a Flamenco performance. Perhaps you know this place on Las Ramblas.

The picture takes a special dimension thanks to your low POV, an and your inclusion of the lovely flowers in the FG. Light is good and you've used it brilliantly. Liked the WS1 as well, a bit of a wider view, but this is surely better. The clear blue sky certainly creates a fine backdrop to the image. Good work my friend!

Bonjour Josep.
Des photos de cet immeuble la plus belle est bien celle que tu as choisie. J'aime la contre-plongée qui place les belles fleurs en premier plan. Belles couleurs et beau graphisme pour ces fleurs ! L'édifice est lui-même paré de végétations ce qui le met bien au goût du jour.
