Photographer’s Note

This image was taken while on holiday in the beautiful resort of Tossa de Mar in Spain. Every evening the old castle is illuminated and I was enthralled by the fishing boats on the beach. Although I had taken my camera on holiday I didn't take a tripod, so I had to be quite inventive to get the image I wanted. A rubbish bin came in very handy. How to take night shots without a cable release.
1 Take a meter reading for the image and set this
reading in the manual mode
2 Use the auto-focus to get the correct focal point
3 SWITCH TO MANUAL FOCUS WITHOUT MOVING THE FOCAL POINT
4 Find somewhere to sit your camera on (a tripod is
best) Try not to move the focussing while you
recompose the picture.
5 Use the self-timer to take the picture

i like this picture, very nice, good exposure for beautiful moment and colors. I like the mix between the deep blue and the goldy light.

Hey Anne, was browsing the gallery and noticed this photo and decided to coment on it, and then realised it was one of yours : )

Its a beautiful place and you have done very well to capture it in the dark, i.e. the lights arent too bright and the boat is still visible. I really like the star shapes which are formed on the lights due to the exposure time used.

Also your tips on nite time photography are also greatly apreciated, it took me ages to work out why my photos were blurred even with the use of a tripod or wall etc, because I have no cable release I was pressing the button only to rock the camera! Took me rather a while to consider using the self timer!

Ce château est souvent photographie, mais celle-ci est pour moi une des plus jolie prise de cette endroit.

I was there too, you present here a very attractive night view with deep colors and splendid warm/cold oppositions, I like too your composition with these boats leading my eye to the rising castle structures, very well done.
