Following on from yesterday is another shot from the inside of the Dali Theatre and Museum in Figueres, Spain.
The Dalí Theatre was built by reducing the old theatre of Figueres to its basic structure and then rebuilt according to Dali's specifications. So, how many architects do you know that could come up with a stairwell like this one?
The whole place has to be seen as a whole to be believed, everything in it was conceived and designed by Dali in order to offer visitors an experience of getting inside his unique world.
As Dalí himself explains: “It’s obvious that other worlds exist, that’s certain; but, as I’ve already said on many other occasions, these other worlds are inside ours, they reside in the earth and precisely at the centre of the dome of the Dalí Museum, which contains the new, unsuspected and hallucinatory world of Surrealism.”

Quel beau cadrage . J'admire ta gestion de la lumière très difficile à cet endroit ainsi que le dynamisme du cadrage de cet escalier qui donne de l'allant à l'ensemble.

thats so funny, we both posted photos of Staircases today!
don't you think this Dali fellow was a bit off his rocker! haha
Well, I guess you can't call him boring and simple can you, gotta give him credits for being unique and creative.
looking at this shot, i get the sense i'm in a very very tight space, not sure how it is in real life though.
with all the people around, it must be hard to photograph too. cool shot in the dark dim light especially at the bottom. very cool indeed.
have a great day

What can I say? This is one of the most interesting tributes to Dali. And one of my favorite photos today! Thanks! Excellent choice of the point of view, impressive graphic and gorgeous colors.

A very good interpretation of the spiral staircase theme. A very good POV and a perfectly composed picture. Excellent!

Hello Mike - I like what Dali says about other worlds being inside ours. What a great simile for the creative mind and what it conjures up. It must have been a precious time immersing yourself in Dali's vision.
There is a softnesses to this shot which I suspect is a result of removing grain, I like what it has done to the flat surfaces, they look like washes of colour have been applied with the utmost care; their tones and subtle shading adding modelling to the two dimensions. I like your upward POV and the nicely balanced arrangement of angles and planes.

A little Escher mixed with your Dali, here Mike - might want to have that looked at :)
Nice angle on this, and I'm still not 100% sure what I'm looking at in the center there - is it one piece or two? And what is the thing that looks like a massive bunch of grapes at top left? I've no doubt this place is a feast for a photographer and especially for you with its strange angles and abstract presentation. Thanks!

Interesting view, and it kind of has a hint of horror to it too, which ties in with the little I know of Dalis work, there always seemed to be a bit of a sinister tone to it. It's a fascinating looking place, but not somewehere I would like wake up disoriented! Beautiful handling of the light here, throwing such interesting shadows and shapes.
I am also staring at the light fixture trying to work it out......?

An interesting low POV which enhances the queer stairs in a soft orange light, the tilt giving a dynamic approach.
Nice light management, and good use of the wide angle lens

Your deft touch of architectural photography takes Dali's abstraction of these stairs to an extra level. Inspirational.

Now this picture, I must say, appeals to me somewhat more than your last one of Marilyn Monroe's room. Not only is this a truly splendid subject, but you have als captured it in a truly splendid manner with the most glorious soft light and colours and excellent depth of field and sharpness.
But it is your composition which excels: you have achieved a perfect viewpoint and from that prodiced a photograph with wonderful and pleasing lines and with all elements pleasingly arranged throughout the frame.
I'm sure even Salvador would be impressed!

Thanks, Mike, this is a great shot and a great insight into Dali's imagination. All lines are taking us upwards, some jagged and interrupted, some vertical, some angled, some arched but all wonderfully artistic and utterly satisfying! The light and colour tones add to the magic.
Have a lovely day,
