Ok, as most of you who read comments on here will probably be aware - looking up when taking an architectural shot is always a good thing to do. However, in this instance I am looking down and this is actually a reflection.
I was walking out of the back door of the Casa Batllo onto a roof terrace when I looked down through toughened safety glass to the offices below. The wired safety glass is visible in the image. But the reflection of the building in the glass was to much to resist, especially since it stands in stark contrast to the architecturally style of Casa Batllo itself. That fact is more than apparent given the bejewelled bottom part of the wall to the lower left corner. So. don't be fooled - I am not looking up here, I am definitely looking down!

well chosen the POV with the created reflections in coexist with the foreground colourful Casa Batllo makes the scene unique.I like the light and the colour management as the saturated colours.

Looking up, looking down...concrete and water, shiny and gray...a most playful composition, well in style.
I must admit I'm not a big Gaudi fan, but I do like this shot.

I was wondering how you got these different elements on the same shot. Nice architectual contrast and beautiful colors in a beautiful eclectic composition. Well seen

an artistic vision you found in the reflections, you collected and framed it in an exquisite way. It's great to see this original combination of architectures and colours, a combination that is imposssible in real life, in many ways. There's wonderful dynamism in your frame and the coexistence of all the elements is natural and acceptable, like in art or in dreams. Colours and contrasts are so delicious. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day,

This must be a rather unique image from a reflections. It certainly looks natural. Regardless, a great perspective with several layers of content and beauty.

Excellent effect, you almost broke my head with this one! You've achieved a very intriguing image and to be honest, I would only have noticed the wire in the safety glass on reading your note, the abstract feel of the scene completely distracts from it otherwise. Great idea to include the Gaudi corner in lower left adding brilliant bursting color.

I really like your twisted angles. And I'm sure Gaudi would have liked them too. Those mosaic pieces have just great saturated colours. And it makes an extreme contrast with that spiky fence and boring building of the reflection.
OK, this is downwards. But the thing I don't get is how the mosaic and building are sharp, but the fence which to my understanding should be middle distance, is blurry?

was worth waiting so long for your next photo.
Creative and really cool shot!
Love the reflected fence dividing the whole scene almost like the puzzles.

It is slightly unsettling eye-boggling image Mike, wouldn't know where to begin till I read your notes. This not so-straight-forward shot certainly makes a gorgeous colourful abstract but sound like it could be very frustrating game too. I'm trying to imagine what scale this engaging three-dimensional but its certainly eye catching in its combination of colours, feel and random shapes but the brain recognises the pleasing arrangement of elements that makes it very intriguing. Artistic vision again and your usual trademark, imaginative. Brilliant art work what an inspiration you are, Congrats.

Up or down, makes no difference, this is a striking shot, beautifully composed to the rule of thirds and with amazingly different textures, shapes and colours. A fine memento of visit to Barcelona.
Have a great day,

A very artistic composition of colours, lines and shapes combining various architectural styles.
I find it difficult to see that you were looking down.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Mike - An excellent observation. The contrast between the flamboyant organic curves of the Gaudi segment is in stark contrast to the disciplined lines of the of the building in the rear. A fine multi-layered collection of reflections. Have a lovely Sunday Rosemary
