This is an abstract form the base of the sculpture I depicted in my shot "Ladies who Lunch", in a small square in the Barri Gotic of Barcelona. The ladies had moved on and so had the sunlight - as you can see the shadow is much shorter, telling you that the sunlight was now more direct and overhead producing a harsh light with crisp shadows.
For some reason I kept thinking this was like a deformed paperclip but eventually I settled on the title "Wavelength" - a Van Morrison song - see, inside my head is a very random place!

hmmm....now this is a strange one indeed.
I dare you to try and count all the geometric shapes including the triangles on the ground!
Funny because I had contemplated posting a similar photo today from the Guggenheim in NYC.
smart choice to keep this monochrome, as the harsh light probably ruined the scene anyways right?
its not even noticeable here.
good cut and crop/composition.
its a math teachers delight :)

Van the Man does it for me, but this photograph stands on its own merits without reference to other media. I get what you mean about the paperclip; the more abstract a photograph is, the more it lends itself to imaginative interpretations. Or weird ones...

excellent composition. Love this abstract form. Excellent conversion in monochrome. You have a nice pair of eyes to produce such frames. Great work. Tfs.

Hello Mike - Again the full impact of this is only apparent at the larger size when the textures are revealed in all their glory. Fascinating shot this and one that challenges the ingrained concepts of what photography is about. Warm regards Rosemary

Hi Mike - cool abstract here, with the shadows and lines enhanced really well through a B&W conversion. You continue to marry the abstract and the geometric very well - I suppose in that regard Barcelona is the perfect spot for you!
I'm curious as to the process on this one - was this shot at this angle the intention at the time, or was the a crop of something interesting you saw upon review?

very ice abstract too, I like how the curve of the base of the sculpture merges into the curve of the shadow. Love the deep strong contrast in this too.
Have a good weekend

another very cool abstract. Strong contrasts and textures make for an attractive shot.

A gritty b/w shot that has a wonderful tonal range and decisive shapes. Superbly cropped. I think the black shape further back is essential in balancing the composition. Fabulous photography.
Kind Regards, Ann
