Photographer's Note

Parc Güell is a mosaic garden complex with architectural elements situated on the hill of El Carmel in the Gràcia district of Barcelona. It was designed by the modernist Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí and built in the years 1900 to 1914. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Works of Antoni Gaudí".
The unique shape of the serpentine bench enables the people sitting on it to converse privately, although the square is large. The bench is tiled and in order to dry up quickly after it rains, and to stop people from sitting in the wet part of the bench, small bumps were installed by Gaudí.
In the background you can see the famous “Gaudi Cross” embedded on the rose window of one of the two buildings at the entrance to the Park.
Park Güell was commissioned by Eusebi Güell who wanted to create a stylish park for Barcelona aristocracy. The Park Guell was formed with the joining of two areas "Can Muntaner de Dalt" and "Can Coll i Pujol", in the "Muntanya Pelada" (today muntanya del Caramel), purchased by Count Güell the year 1899. Gaudi conceived as a religious sense at the same time as organic and urban, and using the 60 meters of gap which has the mountain (the height ranges between 150 and 210 meters respect the sea) to project a path of spiritual elevation, placing in its top a chapel, but it was never built, in place that currently holds the monument to Calvary (or Turó de les tres creus). With Gaudi worked some of his more common colleagues, Josep Maria Jujol, Francesc Berenguer, Joan Rubió and Llorenç Matamala. The works were made by contractor Josep Casanovas i Pardo.
The park contains amazing stone structures (see below), stunning tiling and fascinating buildings. You will also find there the Gaudí dragon fountain that is at the entrance to Güell park. This dragon is adorned in beautiful coloured tiling and there is something rather hypnotic and magical about it.

I been there in January and this is a great memory to me.Beautiful capture of the city from the park Guell,the mosaics below and the trees on the left looks like 2 natural border at the city view,perfect exposure,details and colors,the pic isn't perfectly horizontal but no problem,nobody is perfect...ehehe...have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Arunava,
The Gaudi architecture makes a splendid and colourful frame for the panoramic view of the city. I like also the framing offered by the trees on the left. Well exposed with good colours and sharpness.

Now this is great, even though I have seen images from here before, the shot you have chosen with the city in the background is unique and wonderful. I love the rising towers, and the fantastic color in the foreground. Really great idea to capture this like this.

I was only a few hours in Barcelona this summer and I have not had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful park, beautiful colors and a wonderful view of this lovely city, the picture hangs slightly to the left, optimum depth...

Hello Arunava,
Gaudí was certainly one of the most original architects of all time, which you give us good proof of. From this POV you also give us a view of the city of Barcelona and the Mediterranean Sea. The light was bright on this day in June but the strong contrasts have been excellently handled and the colours look very natural.

Hello Arunava - Spain is a country I long to visit, mainly to visit Barcelona and be able to see Gaudi's work first hand. it is a long time since I visited Barcelona and Parc guel, and then I did not have my enthusiasm for photography. I like your pov, looking across Barcelona. You have chosen fg that shows off Gaudi's work tp perfection.Despite the harsh, bright light you have been able to show off the colours well.

Hello Arunava. Here you can show an interesting and worth seeing photo. I remember similar tiling. Everything looks beautiful and ornate. The composition with the artwork, the city and the sea like it very much.
