The cathedral of Segovia on a January night seen from the Plaza Mayor.


The last Gothic cathedral built in Spain is the Cathedral of Segovia.
It stands in the city's central plaza.

It was built in the Renaissance but in the Gothic style since it was replacing a cathedral near the Alcázar which had been destroyed during the revolt of Comuneros in 1521.
The first stone was placed at June 8th, 1525, during the empire of Charles I.
The works ended at in 1768. Other sources say XVII century.

On the Plaza Mayor where the cathedral stands Isabella I was proclaimed Queen of Castilla.

Hi Paul,
pretty nocturnal capture of this Cathedral, with a difficult exposure and a good result. The golden tones of the artificial lighting have a good contrast with the small white lights in the trees, and your POV is good, I like the perspective that you have obtained in the lines of this magnificent architecture.
